GMB’s Susanna Reid pays emotional tribute to ‘most amazing woman’ Kate Garraway

Good Morning Britain's Susanna Reid has paid a sweet tribute to her co-star and friend, Kate Garraway as she promoted the launch of Kate's new book, The Strength of Love.

Susanna, 52, has often presented alongside Kate, 56, on Good Morning Britain, and their friendship off-screen is clearly a strong one.

Paying tribute to Kate, Susanna shared a number of snaps of the pair, including one of them competing in a Tough Mudder challenge, working on GMB and smiling as they socialised.

In the post's lengthy caption, Susanna wrote: "TOUGH MOTHER.

"I have worked with this amazing woman @kategarraway for almost 10 years and there is nothing she can’t deal with.

"As you can see from this shot from @gmb ’s Tough Mother event a few years back, she stays smiling whatever she’s going through! But while all her books are brilliant, her new volume The Strength of Love is something different.

"This is the unflinching, raw & honest truth of life caring for a loved one in some of the darkest moments. Navigating a labyrinthine care system. Explaining over and over the problems to those tasked with helping, until blue in the face.

"And then explaining again when meeting someone new. Disentangling helpful suggestions of treatments from the purely well-meaning."

The post went on : "I thought I knew what Kate & Derek were dealing with. I was wrong. Read this and be full of admiration for a woman you thought you couldn’t love more.

"It is a powerful insight into a world many thousands are experiencing but does not get enough attention. She speaks for all those carers and families. And feel renewed hope that Kate’s experience will result in meaningful change. #TheStrengthOfLove"

Susanna's followers were quick to comment on the post to show their support, as one said: "I love this lady can’t wait to get the book . It’s on my Christmas list."

Another wrote: "Amazing strong lady fighting with all her life to help her sweet husband Derek she is smashing it god bless her we are routing for Derek all the way."

A third said: "Kate is just so strong and everything she has been through she is one amazing woman."

Lorraine Kelly, who presents her self-titled morning show, Lorraine, straight after GMB every weekday, wrote: "Two fabulous bright and beautiful women xxx".

In November, Kate fought back tears as she spoke about a treatment to help her husband, Derek Draper, speak again.

She has been open about Derek’s health battle since he ended up in a coma due to Coronavirus back in 2020.
