Gregg Wallace admits he is mortified by his pre-weight loss appearance

‘I was absolutely horrified’: Gregg Wallace admits he is mortified by his pre-weight loss appearance in old MasterChef footage… but feels ‘huge pride’ after shedding FOUR STONE

Gregg Wallace has admitted he is ‘horrified’ by his pre-weight loss appearance after watching old episodes of MasterChef.

The TV star, 55, confessed that it was a bittersweet feeling watching old footage, as he is mortified by his appearance but also feels ‘huge pride’ after shedding a whopping four stone following a health and fitness overhaul.

He said: ‘First of all I looked at it and I was horrified, absolutely horrified. And then I was struck with an immense sense of pride and wellbeing.’

Tough times: Gregg Wallace has admitted he is ‘horrified’ by his pre-weight loss appearance after watching old episodes of MasterChef (pictured left on the show in 2009, right in September)

Gregg has been documenting his health overhaul on social media and in June he announced he is launching his own fitness website.

On his appearance, he went on: ‘I did it, it’s great. I don’t need to lose any more weight now, I just need to maintain. ‘But I know what it is, it’s about teaching yourself over time, healthy habits that become part of your every day life.’

Gregg has frequently discussed the fact that he got in shape for the sake of his 14-month-old son Sid, who he shares with his wife Anna, 33.

Four-time married Gregg also has a son and daughter, Libby and Tom, who are both in their Twenties. Their mother is Gregg’s second wife Denise.

Moving on: He said: ‘First of all I looked at it and I was horrified, absolutely horrified. And then I was struck with an immense sense of pride and wellbeing’

Speaking on Lorraine on Thursday morning, Gregg said: ‘: Sid’s amazing, he’s absolutely amazing. If I hadn’t lost the weight, in this heat a couple of years ago, I couldn’t run around with him in the evenings…

‘I’ve got a 26-year-old boy and I’m playing around with a rugby ball with my little baby as much as I was with my big boy 20 odd years ago’.

He also discussed getting starstruck, as he said: ‘I know I’m on the telly but I watch telly as well. You and I know how big a rugby fan I am and so are you so I always like to meet rugby players…

Motivated: Gregg revealed that he was motivated to get into shape for his wife Anna, 33, and their one-year-old son, Sid

‘But Paul Young came on and he used to be in a band called the Q-Tips and as a younger man I might have seen every single one of their London gigs. When he came on it was like a little girl meeting The Spice Girls. I was completely starstruck’.

Speaking about MasterChef, he said: ‘A bit of social distancing but we are filming again. You can cook with social distancing, that’s not the issue…

‘The issue for me is not being able to shake hands or put my arm around the shoulder of people I’ve been working with for 20 years. You do this standing in a ring waving thing from two metres away.’

Love: Gregg married his wife Anna in August 2016. They have one-year-old son Sid together
