Helen Flanagan, 30, admitted her daughter Matilda, five, has been left “absolutely terrified” after they watched both the original and new version of The Witches movie. The former I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! contestant said her eldest had “not been the same” since she had sat through the two spooky films around Halloween time.

It’s quite scary

Helen said on her Instagram story today: “I have had a mum fail, so around Halloween, I let Matilda watch The Witches.

“The original Witches, we watched the new Witches but we also watched the original Witches first, and I totally forgot that it is actually quite scary, and I just thought it is a Roald Dahl film.

“It’s a children’s film, I absolutely love it, I remember when I was younger. I totally forgot how scary The High Witch was.

“Anyway she [Matilda] has literally not been the same since she watched this film, I feel so bad, it’s all my fault. She’s absolutely terrified of The High Witch,” she added.

In the clip Helen can be seen looking concerned as she walked around her kitchen make-up free, while Matilda can be heard in the background.

The Witches film is based on the novel by children’s author Roald Dahl, the original 1990 movie starred Anjelica Huston as the High Witch, before Anne Hathaway took on the role in the 2020 version.

In the story evil witches masquerade as ordinary women and kill children, before they are stopped by a boy and his grandma.

The former Coronation Street star is preparing to welcome her third child with footballer fiancé Scott Sinclair. The couple are already parents to Matilda and Delilah, two.
