FIRST LOOK: Preparations are well underway in Australia for the much-anticipated new series of I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here! as it returns Down Under for the first time since the Covid pandemic

As the countdown continues to the return of I’m A Celebrity on November 6, the Walk The Plank was being prepared at the top of the perilous high-rise, with the brand new addition of a third platform.

Previous years have seen celebrities compete for more luxury when they enter camp by walking towards the star at the end of the platform, leading many stars to face their crippling fear of heights.

Like previous years, the celebrities will be split into two teams where they will compete for the chance to spend their first night in a slightly better camp than the others.

Coming soon! The series is set to be the toughest yet, and hosts Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly have already arrived in Australia for filming

In contrast to last year’s castle setting, this year’s I’m A Celebrity is expected to be the toughest yet, with the stars living among bugs and creepy crawlies in the outdoor camp, while completing gruelling Bushtucker Trials in a bid to win food.

Anticipated: Other stars reported to have signed up for the adventure include 1980s pop icon Boy George and comedian Seann Walsh

A source told The Sun: ‘Charlene is a great signing for the show. She’s got some strong opinions, but is really personable and will be good value around the Aussie campfire.

‘They hope her journalistic background means she will eke out some illuminating conversations from her campmates, which shouldn’t be hard given some of the people she’ll be sleeping in a bunk next to.’

Charlene first joined the ITV news team in 2008, as a newscaster for the early-evening edition, and in 2014 she became the first black woman in history to present News At Ten.

Claims: DJ Chris was among the first celebrities reported to have signed up for the new series

Claims: A source previously told The Sun: ‘Chris is a huge signing for I’m A Celebrity and they have been trying to sign him for years

In 2021, Charlene joined Loose Women as a lead anchor following Andrea McLean’s exit, and she continues to host the ITV Lunchtime News and early-evening edition, as well as ITV London.

Charlene’s arrival comes mere hours after retired England star Jill was spotted arriving in Australia after being part of the rumoured lineup.

Despite the lengthy flight, the former Lioness, who retired in August following the team’s historic Euros victory, was in high spirits as she strolled through the airport to head to her hotel.

Jill’s arrival comes after Owen Warner, best known for his role as Romeo Nightingale on Hollyoaks, was the fourth campmate confirmed to be heading into the jungle.

Lots of challenges ahead! The source added: ‘Chris has signed up and is preparing himself mentally and physically to go Down Under. This a huge moment for him and he cannot wait to get stuck in’

Rumours: Earlier this week it was reported that former Strictly Come Dancing contestant Seann Walsh has signed up

Owen was in a relationship with his co-star Stephanie Davis between 2018 and 2019 and was later linked with Chloe Ferry and The Apprentice runner-up Camilla Ainsworth.

It comes after Coronation Street’s Sue became the third star to touch down in Australia ahead of the upcoming season.

Olivia Attwood and Chris Moyles were spotted jetting to Australia ahead of filming the hit show on Tuesday, as the first stars  ‘confirmed’ for this year’s I’m A Celebrity.

A source previously told The Sun: ‘Chris is a huge signing for I’m A Celebrity and they have been trying to sign him for years.

‘Fans of the show are in for a real treat and Chris has no doubt there will be some people who will be ringing to vote for him to do some of the gruelling trials.’

Hosts Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly said they wanted to see Chris as a campmate back in 2012, with Dec explaining: ‘He would be really funny, he’d probably win.

‘And he’s lost so much weight, even the lack of food wouldn’t bother him.’ Ant added: ‘The thing is eventually they all say yes. We just wear them down.’

Earlier this week it was reported that former Strictly Come Dancing contestant Seann Walsh has signed up.

Not long now! I’m A Celebrity will return to screens on Sunday, November 6, at 9pm, with a 105 minute special, which will see the stars moving into their new home for the first time after spending a week in hotel quarantine

According to The Sun, ITV bosses are hoping that the comedian will discuss his infamous 2018 snog with his Strictly pro partner Katya Jones, who was married to fellow dancer Neil Jones at the time.

The brief fling resulted in the end of Katya’s marriage to Neil the following year and Seann splitting with his ex-girlfriend Rebecca Humphries.

According to reports, Seann and Olivia will be joining the likes of Babatunde Aleshe and Boy George in the jungle.

Ant and Dec are set to welcome 12 new famous faces into the Australian camp in November.
