I’m A Celebrity 2020: ‘My insides are going!’ Shane Richie overcomes his nerves to earn a FULL HOUSE with 12 stars in the Cruel Jewels trial

  • Shane was tasked with moving through the display cabinets to collect stars, all the while dodging critters including naked rats and toads
  • He couldn’t hide his delight as he came back to camp with 12 stars, with the celebrities branding him a ‘star legend’
  • The camp dined on crayfish and chillis for dinner, while Shane celebrated with a warm shower, joined by his camp pal Jordan North

I’m A Celebrity’s Shane Richie overcame his crippling nerves in Tuesday’s show to earn a full house of 12 stars in the trial.

The actor, who admitted that a good result would boost camp morale after several days of tension, took on the latest challenge Cruel Jewels, which saw him move through a selection of display cabinets to collect stars.

But despite earning a full house, it wasn’t an easy feat as Shane had to unscrew some of the stars with his tongue, battling critters including snakes, toads and naked rats.

He did it: I’m A Celebrity’s Shane Richie overcame his crippling nerves in Tuesday’s show to earn a full house of 12 stars in the trial

As he prepared to head to the trial area, Shane confessed: ‘I’m pretending that I’m alright but my insides are going. I’m not sure if it’s the rice and beans or if I’m nervous but either-way it could have the same effect.’

Jessica Plummer had more faith in her campmate, telling the Castle Telegraph: ‘Shane’s the thing that holds us all together, he’ll have a laugh and smash it, he’ll try his hardest, it’ll be fine.’

Heading to the trial, Shane told Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly: ‘Honestly, I feel like a six-foot overweight dad of five, just full of mixed emotions right now. That’s how I feel.’

Petrified: The actor, who admitted that a good result would boost camp morale after several days of tension, took on the latest challenge Cruel Jewels

Scary feat: Shane’s trial saw him move through a selection of display cabinets to collect stars

Nerve-racking: For part of the trial Shane had to crawl into the boxes to pick up the diamond-encrusted stars

Dec then explained for the Cruel Jewels challenge, Shane would have to crawl through display cabinets trying to find and collect the stars along the way.

The presenting duo also admitted tensions had been high in the camp in recent days, with Shane agreeing: ‘Yeah, the last 48 hours. I think tonight’s an important Trial for the morale. If I can go back and just go ”guys, we got 12 stars” it’s about the morale.’

After making his way into the Cruel Jewels, Shane climbed up a short set of stairs to the first cabinet that contained six orb shaped jewellery boxes.

There it is! After placing himself on the throne, Shane had to stick his head through the box to collect stars by unscrewing them with his tongue

How many? The next box contained another throne, and like before Shane had to unscrew a star from the front, before pushing his head into the next box filled with 200 spiders

Each box contained maggots and mealworms, and as Shane went through them all to search for stars, cockroaches and crickets rained down on him.

In the last two boxes he found two specially designed stars which for this trial were edged with crystals.

He continued to the next section where he found a throne guarded by four Royal Pythons, and quickly got to work unscrewing a star on the raised dias, before sticking his head through the top of a box to release two more stars with his tongue.

The next section saw Shane slowly release two stars that were stuck on large sceptres surrounded by snakes.

Petrified: Shane confessed that he was paralysed with fear at being surrounded so many spiders

Over the moon: After counting his 12 stars, Shane couldn’t hide his delight at getting a full house, declaring: ‘We’re going to eat like kings and queens. We’ve got 12!’

Clearly unnerved by the reptiles, the EastEnders star repeated the names of his children to keep calm, joking: ‘If I name all the kids I’ll be here for ten hours.’

The next box contained another throne, and like before Shane had to unscrew a star from the front, before pushing his head into the next box filled with 200 spiders.

Moving onto the final box, Shane voiced naked rats to release the final few stars, before grabbing the last two from a box full of scorpions.

Escaping the room of jewels, Shane took a moment on the steps, telling Ant and Dec: ‘That was alright wasn’t it? I had a little panic attack with the spiders though.’

Elated: Heading back to camp, the mood went from rock bottom to sky high as Shane announced they’d be eating well

Cosy! Shane celebrated his successful day with a warm shower, and he wasn’t alone as Jordan North decided to jump in and join him while Vernon ran the water for them

Shane celebrated his successful day with a warm shower, and he wasn’t alone as Jordan North decided to jump in and join him while Vernon ran the water for them.

Talking in the Telegraph Jordan said: ‘I don’t even know how it happened, I just thought I’m going to get in the shower with Shane Richie. Not many people can say they’ve had a shower with Alfie Moon.’

Fuming! Elsewhere on the show, AJ Pritchard continued to rant over Shane’s ‘dirty’ pans as he complained that they weren’t clean enough

Elsewhere on the show, AJ Pritchard continued to rant over Shane’s ‘dirty’ pans as he complained that they weren’t clean enough.

Camp leader Jordan North asked AJ to do the washing up as Shane was doing a trial and Ruthie was feeling homesick.

After scrubbing the pots and pans, the dancer commented on how much cleaner they were looking thanks to his own handiwork.

To which Beverley Callard asked: ‘So Shane’s done a very bad job?’ with the other campmates looking around.

Chores: The former Strictly pro is in charge of maintenance while the EastEnders actor was assigned washing as a chore alongside Ruthie Henshall

New role: Yet on Tuesday’s episode, camp leader Jordan North asked AJ to do the washing up as Shane was doing a trial and Ruthie was feeling homesick

Commenting on Shane’s ‘dirty’ pans in the Telegraph later on in the episode, AJ said: ‘Oh my God, no wonder our rice has some weird flavour to it.

‘I’ve cleaned the whole thing (pots and pans), they look brand new. You could sell them right now.’

He added: ‘I think they could put a bit more blood sweat and tears into washing up, it’s a bit dirty.’

While he also said to his fellow campmates out of ear shot of Shane: ‘If you’re going to do it, do the job properly.’

It comes after AJ was left unimpressed when he discovered the pans hadn’t been cleaned and ended up having a little tiff with Shane on Monday night.
