Actress Lily James — who’s had a stunning transformation — is known for her stellar performances in Netflix’s “The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society” and “Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again.” However, the British star is also known for her high-profile love life, which has involved some major names from the world of acting. 

Interest in James’ dating life began back in 2011 when the actress enjoyed a romantic fling with fellow British actor Jack Fox (via Us Weekly). However, after just a year of dating, the pair called it quits in 2012. 

Two years later, “The Dig” star began seeing actor Matt Smith, who she first met during the filming of “Pride and Prejudice and Zombies” back in 2014. As Grazia noted, speculation that the couple had gotten engaged went into overdrive when James was spotted wearing a diamond ring to the 2018 British Academy Film Awards. However, after five years of dating, the actors eventually went their separate ways. 

Lily James' dating life has been shrouded in controversy

Following her split from ex-boyfriend Matt Smith, Lily James was romantically linked to “Captain America” star Chris Evans. As The Metro noted, rumors surrounding the pair began after they were spotted sharing a taxi to the same London hotel in July of 2020. Soon after, Evans and James were again seen together enjoying a day out in a London park. However, in a subsequent interview, the actress refused to comment on the speculation.

Per Grazia, one of the most controversial dating rumors relating to James’ love life emerged in the summer of 2020, when she and actor Dominic West — who is married to Catherine FitzGerald — were photographed getting cozy together in Rome. The pair had been working as co-stars in the forthcoming BBC drama “The Pursuit of Love,” and the controversial paparazzi snaps — which appeared to show the actor kissing James’ neck — prompted West to make a public statement addressing the rumors. 

Speaking in October of 2020, “The Affair” actor told reporters that his marriage to FitzGerald was “stronger than ever,” and left a note outside of his home that read, “Our marriage is strong and we’re very much still together” (via The Metro). 

During an interview with The Guardian in May of 2021, James broke her silence on the West dating rumors, telling the publication, “I’m not really willing to talk about that. There is a lot to say, but not now, I’m afraid.”
