James Corden reveals he has now shed 23lbs

‘The notion of going on a diet is wrong’: James Corden reveals he has now shed 23lbs as he continues weight loss journey and puts success down to changing his eating habits

James Corden has revealed he has now shed a total of 23 pounds as he continues on with his weight loss journey.

The chat show host, 42, previously told how he lost a stone (14 pounds) since he joined WW after becoming ’embarrassed’ about his body.

Appearing on The Zoe Ball Breakfast Show on BBC Radio 2, James said the trick to his weight loss has been to see his new eating regime as a lifestyle change, rather than a ‘diet’.

When Zoe said he had shed a stone, James replied: ‘Oh it’s more, I’ve lost more. I’m down like 23 pounds which I think is what, a stone and a half?

‘I’m doing a bit of exercise, this is my tip. I’ve done every single diet in the world, I’ve done them all and what I’ve realised is, the notion of going on a diet is wrong.

‘You’re not going on a diet, you’re changing the way you eat and you’re going to change the way you eat forever. See it as, this is how I eat now.’

James revealed in the New Year that he has signed up to the health and fitness programme to help shift the conversation around wellness.

He said on WW’s Facebook: ‘I want to change the way that I live. I want to be better for my children and for my family.

‘I don’t want to wake up tired, or feel embarrassed when I’m chasing my son on the soccer field and out of breath after three minutes.’

The actor also revealed he ‘hates’ doing exercise but his wife Julia plans circuits for them to do.

He said: ‘My wife is planning a little circuit for us after this so we do it together. We do these weights and little runs and I moan about it constantly.

‘In a year’s time we are all going to be so ripped. It will be crazy. I will be like THE ROCK.’

James has been candid about his weight struggles in the past and back in 2017 he shed six stone in weight and found major success in Hollywood, however he has also admitted the one food that he can’t stop eating is bread.

Speaking about the last time he was ‘off bread’ for dietary reasons, James recalled an incident while he was out at dinner saying: ”[I have] a sort of battle with food…

‘Then they delivered this basket of warm, fresh bread and we’re like, ‘It’s happening, we’re doing it. Who are we trying to kid?’ ‘It’s our nemesis, it’s out to destroy us!’

James also discussed Gavin And Stacey during his interview with Zoe and likely disappointed fans of the series when he admitted there are currently no plans for another special after the huge success of the Christmas 2019 episode.

Asked if fans can expect another episode, he said: ‘As it stands right now, there aren’t any plans to do one but that’s not to say there isn’t the want or the inclination to do one.

‘When we wrote that last special, we never really thought whether we’d make another one after it but then that special, it’s so open ended.’

However, James added that he and co-creator Ruth Jones, who plays Nessa, both feel the Christmas special felt like the end of a chapter, rather than the whole story.

He said: ‘I think it would be a shame to leave it there. I think, that’s certainly my feeling and I think Ruth feels the same.

‘It doesn’t feel like the end of a book, it feels like the end of a chapter. I do feel like if we did another one , that would be the end of it.

He added: ‘We finished it before we called the BBC because we didn’t want to let everybody down. My hunch is no one will know it’s coming until it’s ready but we haven’t had a single conversation about it.

‘You’ve got to wait for these ideas to arrive. We also can’t write separately, we’re terrible at it. It feels sometimes like we open a portal and it’s all these characters in Barry Island and slowly these ideas present themselves to us.’

Having interviewed A-list Hollywood stars on his US chat show for years, James admitted he is rarely starstruck apart from when he meets premiere league footballers.

Legendary: The comedy series ran for two seasons from 2007 until 2008, before airing one-off specials in 2009, 2010 and 2019

He said: I think the only people I really get genuinely star struck by are premiere league footballers. If I meet Jesse Lingard or Declan Rice, I become like a 14 year old boy. That’s not to say I’m blasé about it.

‘I went to a thing a couple of Christmases ago and Gareth Southgate was there and I couldn’t really talk to him. Whereas I know what actors do.’

However, James admitted he has been starstruck by some of Hollywood’s most famous faces from time to time.

He said: ‘When we id he carpool with Gwen Stefani and George Clooney and Julia Roberts got in the back I felt like, I shouldn’t be driving this car. I do have those moments for sure.’
