Jennifer Lopez talks motherhood and Latina representation

Jennifer Lopez puts on a leggy display in a nude bodysuit as she talks motherhood and being typecast in Hollywood for Vogue Mexico spread

Jennifer Lopez looked sensational as she covered Vogue Mexico’s latest edition.

The performer, 53, was a vision of beauty as she posed for the magazine cover shoot while also discussing motherhood and representing Latina women in Hollywood.

J Lo recently starred in Netflix hit The Mother, playing an assassin comes out of hiding to protect her daughter, whom she left earlier in life.

While she is already a mother of two – sharing twins Emme and Max, 15, with her ex-husband Marc Anthony – she revealed that starring in the action flick made her reevaluate her relationship with her children.

She told the fashion bible: ‘It really helped me to overanalyse it, because when you’re living your life you’re not really analyzing it, but when you’re working on a character, you go deeper into what they’re going through.’

‘It made me think what does she need to do to move from a mother-baby relationship to her adult relationship? Are you going to hide things from me or are we going to be open and forthcoming? All those questions were coming up in my mind.’

Jennifer also reflected on her early film roles, with the Hispanic actress revealing she was stereotyped by producers.

She explained: ‘At first I think I only got parts where I had an accent. And then it gradually changed because I stood my ground.

‘I just wanted to play “a girl,” you know, I didn’t even want to know what her last name or her first name was.’

The Selena star said the first role she landed playing just ‘a girl’ was the 2001 romcom The Wedding Planner, where she starred alongside Matthew McConaughey.

‘Normally you would have seen figures like Meg Ryan, Sandra Bullock or Julia Roberts in that role,’ she explained. ‘But once that happened, once I was given that role, I think things really changed.’

Since then, Jennifer has gone on to star in a host of romcoms, thrillers and dramas.

Her performance in 2020 drama Hustlers, saw her earn a Golden Globe and SAG Award nomination and there was even talk of an Oscar nomination.

At the moment Jennifer is being kept busy decorating her recently acquired home, the ‘Wallingford estate,’ a 5-acre plot that boasts 12 bedrooms and 24 bathrooms.

The property was initially listed in 2018 with a price tag of $135 million. However, this year, its value was reduced by almost fifty percent when re-listed.

Earlier this month, it was reported by TMZ that Jennifer and her husband Ben Affleck spent $60.85 million in cash for a stunning 46,000-square-foot mansion.

The transaction was completed within a week, and they paid almost $15 million less than the initial asking price of $75 million.

It was reported that the couple spent almost a year searching for a new home and encountered difficulties during the escrow process of three different properties. However, they ultimately settled on a new residence located in Beverly Hills.

In May, rumors circulated that Ben and Jen were not getting along during the premiere of her latest film, The Mother.

Speculators interpreted their body language on the red carpet as tense and combative during a discussion; however, a source close to the couple told DailyMail.com that ‘the narrative that they’re continually fighting is false.’

‘They’re in an incredibly good place, very loving and supportive of each other,’ the insider revealed before debunking recent reports they got caught in a public spat while promoting her new thriller, The Mother.
