Jerry Hall snaps up a little place in the country for £11m

TALK OF THE TOWN: Jerry Hall and Rupert Murdoch snap up a little place in the Oxfordshire countryside… for £11million

As the former partner of Rolling Stones star Mick Jagger, Jerry Hall has never been short of a luxury pad to call home.

And she’s not exactly slumming it since marrying the billionaire media tycoon Rupert Murdoch either, for I hear that the supermodel has been handed the keys to an £11.25 million palace in the Chilterns.

I can reveal the couple are the new owners of handsome Holmwood House, a Grade II listed Georgian property near Henley-on-Thames.

The house has an interesting history and was once a haven for 19th Century poets Algernon Charles Swinburne and Lord Tennyson.

Jerry Hall and Rupert Murdoch’s new home (pictured), built in the 1700s, sits in an area of outstanding natural beauty, and comes with formal gardens and an outdoor pool

Their new home, built in the 1700s, boasts an infinity pool, library, ballet studio, and 11 bedrooms, each with a bathroom – an extremely unusual feature for a listed property, according to the estate agents handling the sale

Jerry famously dumped Sir Mick after he fathered a child with Brazilian model Luciana Gimenez in 1999.

The Texan beauty queen remained at the couple’s magnificent mansion in Richmond, South-West London, and left only after marrying Murdoch in 2016.

A clause in her divorce settlement with Jagger stated she had to quit the property if she remarried.

As well as the infinity pool, the house grounds play host to three cottages each of which have their own private access and parking so as not to encroach on the privacy of the main house

There are also three annexes – each with a gated entrance – in the 26 acres of grounds, providing accommodation for staff or guests. A library is pictured above filled with shelves of books

Having escaped Westminster, John Bercow is encroaching on my territory… by enjoying extravagant lunches with the stars!

A day after he gave up the Speaker’s chair, my spies spotted him enjoying a raucous three-hour lunch in Fitzrovia’s hotspot Pied a Terre with friends including Channel 4’s Dermot Murnaghan.

The Michelin-starred restaurant is popular with Hollywood’s finest, but it isn’t cheap: the chef’s menu is £145 a head and a bottle of wine can cost £30,000.

Luckily for Bercow, he was able to orderrrrrr as many courses as he liked, as he wasn’t paying – owner David Moore waived the bill.

Crush of the week… Lady Lola Crichton-Stuart

Four former wild partygoers have given up the booze, leaving me bereft of late-night companions.

The Marquess of Bute’s daughter, pictured with a bottle of Ruinart champagne – something she used to describe as ‘dinner’ – has gone 100 days without touching a drop and says sobriety makes her feel ‘like a boss b****’.

Meanwhile, singer Lily Allen has also gone teetotal, declaring: ‘No drink and no drugs, I’m clean and serene.’

Jack Fox, the actor cousin of Emilia Fox, has followed suit, telling me: ‘I feel much calmer now I don’t drink.’

And crooner James Blunt has swapped ‘drinking Crack Baby cocktails in the back of Boujis’ for chasing pigeons in Holland Park to blow off steam. ‘It’s very therapeutic,’ he says.

Celebs spouting claptrap

The Who’s lead guitarist Pete Townshend is worth £82 million thanks to his time in the legendary band, but he claims he wouldn’t bother to watch himself live.

‘The Who are not a band I would go and see. I just wouldn’t like them,’ he said last week. ‘I like Primal Scream. I’d go and see them instead.’

Crikey Pete, if you’d realised that back in 1964, you could have finished your course at Ealing Art College rather than dropping out and bothering us with that silly rock ’n’ roll…
