Joan Collins has claimed that the ‘world has gone nuts’ during a discussion about the amount of gender options on Good Morning Britain on Wednesday morning.

The actress, 86, revealed that she thinks its ‘ludicrous’ that there are now more than 100 official genders as she spoke to hosts Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid.  

When quizzed on the topic by Piers, Joan said: ‘I find that very peculiar quite frankly, I have three grandchildren in their teens and I don’t think that’s happening to them.’

She added: ‘I know there’s LGBTQ – but how can there be 100 it’s ludicrous!’

When asked why she thinks it has become so ‘complicated’, Joan said: ‘ The world’s gone nuts! I have no idea it’s ridiculous.’

Piers, who appeared delighted that Joan agreed with his view, said that he gets up in the morning and thinks that he doesn’t know what is going on in the world.

Referencing her grandchildren again, Joan said: ‘I have American grandchildren and I said do you have transgender children in your class and asked if they have to use different pronouns.

‘They said yes we use “they and thou”, and they were very casual about it.’  

During the appearance Jackie also discussed the new drama based on her and her late sister Jackie’s lives as they rose to fame in America.

Joan revealed that it is being produced by the same people who made the crown, and giving an insight into the plot, she said: ‘

It’s being done by the people who made the Crown: ‘It’s going to be called Joan and Jackie, it follows us from when we were teenagers until we hit in Hollywood in the eighties.’

She added: ‘It is based when Jackie was the top of the bestsellers and I won Best Actress at the golden globes. It’ll be around 10 episodes.’ 

Touching on the romantic element of the film, Susanne asked Joan which of their boyfriend’s will feature with the actress saying that her sister always had ‘amazing boyfriends’.

Commenting on Jackie’s relationship with Marlon Brando, she said: ‘Yes I think so [it’s true]- I was there when he took her hand and took her upstairs, she was only 18!’ 

Susanna replied: ‘And you ended up in a car with James Dean?’ 

While Joan was quick to deny the allegation, adding: ‘Darling I wasn’t there, he was by himself.’
