Khloe Kardashian gets emotional as she celebrates daughter True’s first day of pre-K with a pink balloon display: ‘I’m still not okay’

Khloe Kardashian had a hard time as her daughter True geared up for her first day of school on Wednesday.

The reality TV star, 38, who shares the 4-year-old with cheating ex-boyfriend Tristan Thompson, 31, posted a short clip of a balloon display to mark the special occasion, writing: ‘I’m still not ok with True being in school.’ 

She also commented on a photo of the display posted to @balloonandpaper – who created the balloon arrangement – writing: ‘Im still crying that she’s in school,’ and adding, ‘thank you for making this day so special.’

The colorful display featured a multitude of pastel-colored balloons and pencils along with letters that spelled out ‘First Day Of’ and a matching pink balloon reading ‘Pre-K.’

The Kardashians star added that ‘The balloons made it easier.’ 

Along with True, Khloe and the basketball played also welcomed a second baby together, a boy, in August. He is also dad to son Prince, 5, with ex Jordan Craig and son Theo, 9 months, with Maralee Nichols.

Khloe shared a look at her new son she had via surrogate with Tristan in the premiere episode of season two of The Kardashians on Thursday. 

The explosive episode featured footage of their son’s birth via surrogate on July 28 at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, as well as the emotional moment that Khloe was able to hold the newborn for the first time.  

Yet the moment was tinged with sadness, with Khloe confessing that she felt as though a ‘dark cloud was looming over’ after it was revealed that the father of her children had been unfaithful yet again.

Emotional: She also commented on a photo shared  by the company who created the display, writing: ‘Im still crying that she’s in school’

The arrival of the former couple’s second child came shortly after Khloe discovered that Tristan had cheated on her yet again with Houston-based personal trainer Maralee Nichols – with whom he had just welcomed another child.

As a result, Khloe decided that her older sister Kim Kardashian should be in the delivery room instead of Tristan – though he was later invited to the hospital to meet his newborn.

Despite the unconventional and heartbreaking circumstances, Khloe said the arrival of her son allowed her to officially ‘close that chapter and be done with this trauma.’

Khloe also opened up about her decision to have a second child with Tristan, explaining that she was encouraged by the NBA star to go through with an embryo transfer ‘around Thanksgiving’ last year.

Just a week later, DailyMail.com exclusively revealed that Tristan was expecting a child with fitness model Nichols. She gave birth to a son named Theo in early December.

Speaking in a confessional after their son was born, Khloe said: ‘I am so grateful. It’s such a beautiful gift that we’re able to have.

On the fence: She explained that she was ‘on the fence about having Tristan come to the hospital or not but [since] ‘Tristan wants to be here. Then why not? Have him come. I’ll never get this moment back’ 

‘Ever since December [when Tristan’s infidelity was revealed] there’s been this dark cloud looming over me. Every single day, I’ve been feeling depressed and sad, and now that my son is here, I get to move on, and I get to enjoy.’

She continued: ‘It’s almost like I get to close that chapter and be done with this trauma and put it behind me. Now I finally get to start the healing process. Now I get to start enjoying my life with two kids in it and figuring this out.

‘This is gonna be day one, and this is gonna be the start of something positive, and happy and beautiful.’

Khloe also explained why, on the advice of Kim, she let Tristan meet his baby boy, saying: ‘I’ve been on the fence about letting Tristan come to the hospital or not, but Tristan wants to be here so I just figured, why not let him come? I’ll never get this moment back.

Khloe and Tristan began seeing each other in 2016 while his ex Jordan Craig was pregnant with his now five-year-old son Prince. They welcomed their daughter True, two years later in 2018.

The former couple’s on/off romance was plagued by infidelity on Tristan’s part, including an infamous incident in 2019 when he was caught kissing her sister Kylie Jenner’s best friend Jordyn Woods.

Despite their up and downs, Khloe and Tristan reconciled amid the coronavirus pandemic after quarantining together to co-parent their daughter, but later split up again in 2021 before it was publicly revealed that he’d cheated on her in March 2021 with Nichols.

Coming clean: In a confessional, a visibly emotional Khloe told producers that when they learned of Tristan’s paternity scandal, which was captured in season one and showed Kim breaking the news to her younger sister over the phone after getting wind of an exclusive DailyMail.com story, she had already gone through with her and Tristan’s surrogacy plans
