Kim Kardashian is a descendant of Scottish royalty

Kim Kardashian’s family tree reveals she is a descendant of Scottish royalty through her link to Highlands rebel Robert Roy

She’s a member of one of America’s most well-known showbusiness families.

And Kim Kardashian, 38, is also a relative of Scottish outlaw and folk hero Robert Roy MacGregor and can also claim royal descent, according to the Daily Record.

Kim’s distant relative Rob Roy also gives her a link to the first King of Scots Kenneth MacAlpin.

The reality star’s surprising family tree was uncovered by Scottish journalist Craig Williams who decided to look into the Kardashian clan’s history after learning of their affinity for Scottish names.

Kim’s older sister Kourtney named her daughter Penelope Scotland Disick as a nod to the family’s Scottish roots through their mother, Kris Jenner.  

While Mr Williams expected the family to have some Scottish roots after learning of Penelope’s middle name, he was surprised to discover their relation to such a famous figure.  

He told the publication: ‘I thought the family must be aware of a Scottish background. And sure enough, when I searched the historical records, there it was.

Heritage:  Kim’s detailed Scottish family tree is through her mother, Kris Jenner 

‘I had no idea they would be linked to such a towering figure from Scottish history though.

‘And as the MacGregors claim direct descent from Scottish kings, maybe Kim could have a claim on the throne.”

Robert Roy MacGregor was born in 1671 in Loch Katrine and in 1689, he joined his father in the Jacobite Rising with the aim of resorting James VII to the throne of Scotland.

His life was the basis for the 1995 Rob Roy which starred Liam Neeson in the lead role.

The Daily Record reports that Kim’s link to Robert MacGregor was discovered through researching her great-great-great grandmother,  Margaret Elizabeth Magee.

A 2012 family tree search revealed Margaret’s great-great-great-great-great grandfather was Thomas MacGee, who was born in Scotland in 1645 and was related to Robert.  

He told the Daily Record: ‘I thought the family must be aware of a Scottish background. And sure enough, when I searched the historical records, there it was’
