There’s not much that shocks us when it comes to the Kardashians, but fans were left stunned last week when the famous family announced their hit reality show KUWTK will be ending after 14 years and 20 series.

In a joint statement from Kris Jenner, 64, and her children Kourtney, 41, Kim, 39, Khloé, 36, Rob, 33, Kendall, 24, and Kylie, 23, as well as Kourtney’s ex Scott Disick, 37, the clan confessed it was a “difficult decision to say goodbye” as they revealed the final season will air early next year.

Sharing her own personal announcement, Kim Kardashian posted a broken heart and wrote, “This show made us who we are and I will be forever in debt to everyone who played a role in shaping our careers and changing our lives forever.”

But despite her emotional words, new magazine can reveal it was Kim who pulled the plug on the show in order to work on her marriage with Kanye West, 43, following their trip to the Dominican Republic last month.

“Kim was behind the decision and told the rest of the family she needed to bow out shortly after her make-or-break holiday with Kanye – telling them she made a vow to him to stop doing the show which he’s always hated as part of their new marriage pact,” an insider told new magazine.

“Everyone was in shock and while there was initially talk of the sisters and Kris carrying on without her, they all knew it would never work without the main star and the show wouldn’t be the same without Kim.”

Our mole adds that while Kris was concerned, Kim is adamant it’s the best decision for her marriage following a string of personal woes this year.

“Kris was in a state of panic – begging and pleading with her to change her mind amid fears their empire could crumble without the show,” the source said. “But Kim insisted it was time to put her marriage first as she admitted how many problems it created between her and Kanye.

“It’s no secret Kanye’s never felt comfortable with cameras following their lives and he’s been trying to get Kim to stop since they met, but after things reached breaking point between them earlier this summer, Kim knew she had to make a choice following a final ultimatum from Kanye.”

Back in July, Kanye dropped a series of explosive bombshells about Kim, including that he had been trying to divorce her for two years. Addressing his bipolar disorder, she responded by saying it was “incredibly complicated” to understand.

And now that Kim, who is mum to North, seven, Saint, four, Chicago, two, and 16-month-old Psalm with Kanye, has sacrificed the show to work on their relationship, he’s also said to have agreed to do his part to step up.

“While her sisters and Kris understand Kim’s predicament and her will to put her family first, they’re upset it’s ended like this and are hoping she doesn’t come to regret her decision.”

Last week, Kris held back tears as she spoke about the show coming to an end.

“It really hasn’t [hit me yet]. I got very, very emotional this morning,” she said. “I woke up and was in the gym at 5 with Khloé and Kim and we just kind of sat there and looked at each other and said, ‘Whoa, what a ride.’” She added, “We’ve had such an amazing run and we’re so grateful for every single moment and everyone we work with.”
