Keeping Up With the Kardashians fans’ anticipation for the final season hit a fever pitch when Kim Kardashian filed for divorce from Kanye West in February 2021. Of course, everyone wants to know whether Season 20 will cover any of the breakup drama.
But first, let’s revisit what went down. Separation rumors have plagued the couple since the summer of 2020 when West announced his bid for the United States presidency, according to People. Toward the end of the year, insiders claimed to People that the superstar couple had been living separate lives following the Yeezy founder’s election loss. West was living out at his ranch in Cody, Wyo. while Kim remained in Los Angeles with their four children. Shortly after New Years’, Page Six reported that divorce was “imminent” for the rapper and reality star after almost seven years of marriage. Once the word got out, sources told Page Six that Kim and Kanye were quietly working out the details of their divorce. “Kim got Kanye to go up there [Wyoming] so they could live separate lives and quietly get things sorted out to separate and divorce. She’s done,” they revealed.
Although the SKIMS founder has remained silent about her split as of this writing, she let the tears fall while filming her reality show. “I feel like a f–king loser,” the KKW Beauty founder said in the promo trailer, although it’s not clear whether she was referencing the split. As fans wait to see whether Kim will speak out, another family broke their silence. Here’s what Kris Jenner had to say about the situation.
Kris Jenner speaks on Kim's 'hard' situation
As the family matriarch of the Keeping Up With the Kardashians family, Kris Jenner has coined herself as the designated momager of her six successful children. Fans of the show see how supportive she is of her kids’ personal and business endeavors. That probably explains why she decided to wait a little before breaking her silence on Kim Kardashian’s divorce filing from Kanye West. Being the mom and grandmother that she is, Kris expressed the most concern for Kim and Kanye’s four young children, North, Saint, Chicago, and Psalm.
“I think it’s always going to be hard anytime…you know, there’s a lot of kids,” Kris shared during a March 2021 appearance on The Kyle & Jackie O Show. “The good thing about our family is that we are there for each other and supportive and we love each other very, very much so all I want is for those two kids to be happy. And I want the kids to be happy. That’s the goal.” She continued, “I think it’s just a private time for them. Kim wanted to deal with this with her own family in her own time…When she feels like it, I’m sure she’ll say what she needs to say.”
Alas, that means fans will have to wait and see what Kim chooses to share.
