Pregnant Kylie Jenner skipped the Met Gala ‘at the LAST MINUTE’ because she did not ‘feel great’ and was ‘overwhelmed’

Kylie Jenner surprised her fans when she announced that she would not be attending the 2021 Met Gala.

And on Tuesday, an insider explained why the 24-year-old Kylie Cosmetics mogul skipped the star-studded event.

‘She pulled out last minute because she is overwhelmed and just doesn’t feel great,’ the source told E! Online.

‘She did a lot this past weekend and pushed it. Kylie has been going back and forth for the last two months on if she wanted to attend or not and decided she doesn’t really need to go.’ 

The Keeping Up With The Kardashians star recently revealed that she was pregnant, which factored into her decision to miss the gala. 

The insider said, ‘Kylie is focused on her pregnancy right now and just wants to take it easy.’

A separate source told E! that the television personality initially planned to announce her pregnancy and debut her baby bump at the Met Gala, but it ‘didn’t work out the way she had hoped.’ 

On Monday, Kylie told her 267 million Instagram followers that she planned to skip the gala.    

‘I’m so sad I couldn’t make it this year,’ Kylie wrote her Instagram Stories. ‘I can’t wait to see all the looks.’

Her decision to miss the gala came as a surprise since she had already attended numerous events during New York Fashion Week. 

Though Jenner did not disclose the reason for her absence, she was obviously feeling sentimental for the experience as she posted a slew of snaps taken at previous Met Gala shows to her Stories.

Kylie has not missed the bash ever since she first started attending in 2016, where she dropped jaws in a dazzling silver Balmain dress.

Jenner continued the sparkle trend the next year with a metallic Versace dress. 

In 2018 she went for an edgier vibe with her jaw-dropping black floor length gown with metallic shades and was joined on the famous steps by Travis for their first red carpet appearance together. 

Kylie brought out her most memorable look in 2019 when she rocked the Met Gala in an elaborate violet feathered ensemble that showcased her cleavage and legs.

This year’s Met Gala was unlike any other with guests required to show proof of vaccination before entering. In addition, the show, which was themed In America: A Lexicon of Fashion this year, had a more pared-down guest list due to COVID-19.  

Since confirming her pregnancy, Kylie has not shied away from showing off her baby bump, in contrast to her first pregnancy with daughter Stormi which she kept secret. 

Meanwhile, Kylie’s mom Kris Jenner said she ‘excited’ about her daughter’s pregnancy.

The 65-year-old matriarch is thrilled her youngest child is expecting her second child and thinks it is ‘great’ she’s going to become a grandmother for the eleventh time in the coming months.

Speaking to E! News at the Met Gala, where she was joined by boyfriend Corey Gamble, Kris gushed: ‘I’m really excited. Number eleven, it’s really great!’

In addition to Stormi, Kris is also already grandmother to eldest daughter Kourtney Kardashian’s three children with Scott Disick; Mason, 11, Penelope, nine, and five-year-old Reign, as well as Kim Kardashian West and estranged husband Kanye West’s brood; North, eight, Saint, five, Chicago, three, and two-year-old Psalm, Khloe Kardashian and Tristan Thompson’s daughter, True, three, and four-year-old Dream, her son Rob Kardashian’s daughter with former fiancee Blac Chyna.

Kris previously hailed Kylie’s pregnancy as ‘one of the happiest days of [her] life’ in a video shared by the billionaire to break the news.

Hailey Bieber was also quick to weigh in on the happy news.

The wife of pop star Justin Bieber, 27, gushed ‘I love you guys!!!!’ upon seeing the news on Instagram.
