Kylie Minogue overcame her battle with breast cancer in 2005, but 18 years later the pop icon is still haunted by the ‘trauma’ of her shocking diagnosis.
In a moving interview with CBS News on Sunday, the Padam Padam hitmaker, 55, broke down in tears as she reflected on the terrifying health scare.
She said the experience will always ‘reside within’ her.
The heartbreaking moment began when interviewer Seth Doane brought up the topic of her lumpectomy and eight-month cycle of chemotherapy and radiotherapy.
Kylie teared up as she said the memories of those months were ‘still raw’ for her.

‘You have to get on, you have to get on with stuff, but…’ she said, before stopping as she became emotional.
Moved by her reaction, Seth asked: ‘Is it fear that’s coming through?’
‘It’s trauma,’ Kylie quickly responded as her voice shook. ‘And any trauma resides within you.
‘The experience of a cancer diagnosis will live in me. It was difficult. It was also amazing.’

When Seth asked her to clarify how her battle with cancer was ‘amazing’, Kylie said: ‘Amazing in that you are very aware of your body, of the love that’s around you, of your capability, all sorts of things.’
Kylie has always been very open about the struggles she faced while battling breast cancer, and even urged her followers in 2018 to donate to UK based charity Breast Cancer Care.
The songstress was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2005 while in the middle of her Showgirl: Greatest Hits world tour.

After a partial mastectomy and rounds of radiation and chemotherapy, Kylie was given the all-clear the following year.
Speaking to Karl Stefanovic about her diagnosis on 60 Minutes in 2014, Kylie admitted her cancer journey had taught her to put herself first.
‘Someone had said to me at the time, “You need to be a little bit selfish.”
‘It’s not in my nature to be selfish but now is the time to do that. Let people take care of you. And… that’s what I did.’
