Lily Allen admits she didn't orgasm until she discovered sex toys

‘I felt weird trying to give myself pleasure’: Lily Allen admits she didn’t have an orgasm until she discovered sex toys… as singer swipes at Gwyneth Paltrow’s Goop for ‘selling s**t’

Lily Allen admits she struggled to have a satisfactory orgasm before discovering sex toys in her mid-twenties.

The singer has made her first foray into the sex toy market by launching a new product with German company Womanizer – and believes her use of masturbatory aids ‘changed her life.’

Reflecting on their positive impact, Lily, 35, says she had originally resigned herself to never having an orgasm after failing to climax with her previous partners – an issue she puts down to being drunk during intercourse.

Let’s talk: Lily Allen admits she struggled to have a satisfactory orgasm before discovering sex toys in her mid-twenties. The singer has recently launched her own sex toy with German company Womanizer (pictured)

But her sex life was radically changed when she purchased her first vibrator.

Recalling her first orgasm, she told the latest issue of Dazed Digital: ‘It wasn’t until my mid-twenties. I wasn’t very committed to self-love in that part of my life.

‘Like, I’d never reached climax with a partner, probably because I was so drunk when sleeping with people that I became desensitised to feeling something.

‘When it came to masturbation, I wasn’t persistent enough, I just gave up. I felt weird trying to give myself pleasure, it didn’t feel like something that felt natural to me. Then I discovered sex toys and it broke the barrier of intimacy with myself.’

But while they helped change her perception of sex, Lily admits they also prompted her to resent men because she ‘felt like it was their responsibility to make me cum and they weren’t doing it for me.’

The singer is hoping her venture into the sex toy market will aid and empower others who struggling to climax, and she admits the initial response has been positive.

But while conceding that celebrity endorsements such as her own have become a necessity for public figures in the modern age, she has a  mildly dim view of other sexual wellness endeavours, the most prominent of which being Gwyneth Paltrow’s Goop.

‘People get celebrities to sell anything, don’t they?’ she said. ‘What I’m enjoying about this project is that over the last ten years, as music has been devalued, it’s hard for artists, or any industries where your product exists on the internet, to make money. We’ve been pushed into this realm of selling things.

‘There’s so many opportunities that have come my way but truth and honesty is so central to what I do. What I’m seeing with this product is that people are really connecting to it.

‘I feel pleased with myself that I stuck to my guns and haven’t been flogging s**t for the last ten years.
