Louis C.K. hit the stage on Long Island – and received a standing ovation – just hours before his controversial surprise comeback gig in Manhattan last weekend.
The comedian – who has admitted to masturbating in front of women, some of whom worked with him – whipped out a notebook and tried out new material for about 10 to 15 minutes at Governor’s Comedy Club in Levittown last Sunday, club owner James Dolce told TMZ.
C.K.’s quick warm-up at Governor’s was unexpected, as was his performance a few hours later at the Comedy Cellar, where he did his first stand-up routine since apologizing for his creepy behavior last year.
“It wasn’t planned — he just stopped by,” Dolce told Yahoo Lifestyle. “Louis has been playing my clubs for a long time. And he just stopped by. I was at one of my other clubs and I got the call that he was there and I shot over to see him.”
Dolce added that the funnyman “destroyed the audience.”
“He was very funny,” he said.
The 50-year-old received standing ovations at both clubs, though his return to the stage has divided the comedy community.
