Why American men are better lovers than Aussie blokes: Love Island star reveals the major difference between guys in both countries – as she calls out her own ‘culturally stunted’ nation

Love Island star Phoebe Thompson has revealed why she thinks American men make better boyfriends than their Australian counterparts.

The single model, 31, who is currently on holiday in Los Angeles, was asked about the calibre of local men during an Instagram Q&A on Monday.

‘The men are so polite and chivalrous,’ she responded, before praising their ‘old-school values’ and ‘respect’ for women.

Phoebe, who is of Jamaican and Anglo-German descent, added: ‘I feel like I fit in more in America than I do Australia. I feel more embraced and more celebrated.’

‘This trip has made me realise a lot about what I’ve been missing in my life growing up as a woman of colour in a very white, culturally stunted country,’ she added.

Phoebe also had praise for American women, saying: ‘Girls compliment each other on the street! Everyone is so friendly and confident.’

She concluded her Instagram post by reflecting on Australia’s cultural shortcomings.

‘I’ve also realised how conservative Australia is. No one cares what you wear here [in America]. You can wear the most extra, skimpiest clothes and no one judges… if you’re an OF [OnlyFans] girl, no one cares. People thrive on being different and standing out. It’s a beautiful thing,’ she said.

Phoebe is perhaps best known for coupling up with another woman on season two of Love Island Australia in 2019.

In March, Phoebe came under fire for asking people to subscribe to her website so she could donate money to Queenslanders affected by the floods.

At the time, Phoebe told her Instagram followers she was ‘going to make a donation from my website to flood disaster in Qld… so get SUBSCRIBED’.

But not everyone was impressed by her generosity, with some suggesting her pledge was self-serving, a claim she strenuously denied.
