Love Island’s Jacques O’Neill made a savage dig at his ex Paige Thorne and her new love Adam Collard, during an Instagram Live over the weekend.

The rugby player, 23, quit the ITV2 series last month when Adam was drafted in to the latest series by producers and quickly began flirting with Paige.

And making reference to the brunette beauty’s mother, who recently admitted she’s ‘not buying’ the romance, he joked about Adam’s frosty introduction to her on the show.

He jibed to former castmates Luca Bish and Dami Hope, ‘Well, her mum seems to love him doesn’t she? He’s in there with the fam!’

Love Island fans were left stunned after Paige’s mum expressed doubt over her daughter’s romance with Adam.

The Meet The Parents episode aired last week and saw the paramedic’s mum and dad enter the Majorcan villa for their happy reunion.

The awkward moment came before Adam broke down in tears in the Beach Hut speaking about his true feelings for the paramedic saying how much she had ‘changed’ him.

However, things took a turn for the worse when Paige’s mum Samantha shared her honest thoughts about Adam – not long before the two were dumped from the villa.

When the islander asked for her opinion, Samantha whispered: ‘I’m not buying it.’

She then explained to her daughter: ‘The way you was with Jacques was completely different, you were a lot of more you and bouncy and full of personality, with Adam it seems a lot more different.’

But Paige argued: ‘With Jacques, he did bring out a different side of me, bubbly and all that but there were some bits that really weren’t okay.’

Eek! He jibed to former castmates Luca Bish and Dami Hope, ‘Well, her mum seems to love him doesn’t she? He’s in there with the fam!’

‘Ummmm’, she said after an awkward pause, before Paige is heard in the Beach Hut saying: ‘My mum and her savage comments, I knew she would be… I was just like ‘Oh for God’s sake!’

Jacques was also the only castmember of the 2022 series to avoid the reunion show on Thursday.

The series eight stars came together for the first time outside of the villa to film the annual reunion show, which was shown on Sunday night on ITV2.

A source told The Sun: ‘Unfortunately Jacques has decided he’s just not ready to see Paige quite yet and especially not with Adam.

Awkward: And making reference to the brunette beauty’s mother, who recently admitted she’s ‘not buying’ the romance, he joked about Adam’s frosty introduction on the show

‘He’s made the decision to wait for a more suitable moment to talk to her again after everything he’s been through.’

MailOnline contacted Jacques’ representatives for comment at the time.

Hours before the reunion was due to be filmed he appeared on Good Morning Britain to discuss life after the dating show, admitting he ‘just wanted my mum’ after his traumatic experience.

Host Kate Garraway started by asking Jacques: ‘How do you feel now being out because the episode you left was emotional to watch’

Jacques responded: ‘When I first came out it was very different for me, I was scared of life and what was to come next for me.

‘When I was in the holding villa I just wanted my mum. We were getting death threats. I thought to myself I’m going to delete social media’

The reality personality decided to remove himself following the arrival of Adam as he declared: ‘Love Island was the worst decision of my life.’
