They said: ‘Loose Women and This Morning use the same backstage area and it’s not particularly big, so guest from various shows are always bumping into each other.

‘Lauren and Mark were in at the same time and executives were told to try to make sure there was no chance of them bumping into each other.

‘We didn’t lead Lauren through the canteen like we usually do and we kept her in her dressing room as much as we possibly could.’

The source added that the situation was awkward but is sometimes necessary to keep celebrity guests happy.

MailOnline has contacted representatives for Mark and Lauren for further comment.

Mark and Lauren were previously engaged before they split in 2012 and Mark has since gotten married to actress Michelle Keegan.

During his appearance on Loose Women, Mark spoke about leaving his hosting gig on American entertainment show Extra.

The former TOWIE star explained he wanted to be at home with Michelle.

He said: ‘Sometimes my drive is too much and I think I would like it to chill out a bit. I get one job and then I think “What’s the next thing?”

‘My American boss said to me – I went in after two months and it was this dream job and I was so lucky to get it, and I was like “How do I become the main host?”

‘And she was like, “What? Why are you always in a rush? When you have children they are going to get to 18 and you’re going to look back and say I missed it all”…And that always stuck with me.’

Mark discussed having children and wondered how they will be just like him.

He said: ‘If they’ve got my personality traits, [they’ll be like me].

‘Which is seriously competitive and always wanting something else, even when it comes to work and always wanting to win too much rather than just living in the moment, because that’s one thing that annoys me.’
