Michael Douglas is getting candid about his son Cameron‘s battle with drug addiction.
“My son’s struggle was a nightmare,” Douglas, 73, said in a new interview with Radio Times (via The Daily Mail). “It was stressful for all involved, very painful and difficult. I’m happy to say he’s in wonderful shape now.”
Cameron, 39, served seven years in prison for a slew of drug charges. He was released in August 2016. He was originally sentenced to five years for possession of heroin and selling methamphetamine in 2010, but his sentence was extended after he admitted smuggling drugs into prison.
Cameron, who is now a father to baby Lua Izzy, is pursuing a career in acting alongside his famous family, including stepmom Catherine Zeta-Jones and grandpa Kirk Douglas.
“He’s been out of federal prison a year and a half and he’s actively pursuing his career,” the “Ant-Man and the Wasp” star added.
