Pop Idol star Michelle McManus has given birth to her baby boy, a son named Nicholas.

The 41 year old singer, who regularly documented her pregnancy over the latter half of last year, announced the happy news she and her new baby are safe and well to mark the start of a new month in an Instagram post.

Sharing an adorable first snap of her little boy, Michelle, who shares 23-month old son Harry with her husband Jeff Nimmo, debuted her second child in a gorgeous knitted blue and white cardigan as he lay soundly sleeping in a moses basket.

“Goodbye January 2022,” the reality TV favourite began her caption.

“Although I don’t know how any other month this year could possibly top you as you’re the month we welcomed the newest addition to our family.

“Please say hello to Nicholas Peter Nimmo,” Michelle continued. “You are so perfect in every way and we’re just so madly in love with you.

“Thank you for completing our family and our world.

“Love Mummy, Daddy and Harry #love #family #newarrival #babyboy #babybrother,” the star added in a gushing post.

Friends and fans flocked to the comments to share their well-wishes for the star.

“He’s a wee treasure! Well done, you’re a clever lassie. Hunners of love to you all,” one person wrote.

Another follower commented: “Awwww adorable hello Nicholas.”

Michelle opened up on struggling over the Christmas period after she contracted COVID-19.

Coming up to the end of her pregnancy, the star revealed she had been very "poorly" but thankfully was already much better by the time she posted a picture of her lateral flow test, thanks to being "double vaccinated".
