Newly-single Rylan says he’s considering Love Island spell: ‘I would now, f*ck it’

Rylan Clark is back on the dating scene and he has exclusively revealed to OK! he would go on Love Island now that he is single again.

The TV and radio presenting favourite, 33, got engaged to Dan Neal in September 2014 and tied the knot in 2015. But the couple announced they were divorcing in June 2021, following six years of marriage.

Now that Rylan is single, he discussed with us whether he would be up for flying out to Majorca to find love on the ITV show.

"I would now, f**k it!" he said. "I’d be embarrassed though. If I went on Love Island, I’d have to go on a foreign one like Australia or Italy, so nobody knew who I was."

Rylan's mum Linda and Celebrity Gogglebox star said: "When we were in Paris nobody really knew you, did they? Nobody took any notice until we went up the Eiffel Tower and someone recognised you."

Rylan added: "And I had a breakdown? Yeah."

In our exclusive chat, Rylan – who has returned to Celebrity Gogglebox with his beloved mum Linda after a tough year – went into detail about the difficult time they've been through together.

Linda told OK! how the presenter slept in her bed with her after his painful split from ex husband Dan Neal.

Rylan explained: "I couldn’t have got through the last year without my mum – she was there for me majorly. She was my entire support. If I was a puppet, she was the strings."

He added: "I didn’t think I was going to come back at all. At one point, I didn’t want to come back. I didn’t want to do this job anymore. I didn’t want to do anything."

Speaking about how he found the strength to get back on his feet, Rylan said exercise helped him through the dark times.

"I gradually had the realisation that I wasn’t a bad person – break-ups can do that to you," he says. "Exercise was a big thing and I got on a diet plan to build weight, which helped physically and mentally."

"When I do a session with my trainer Scott, we put the world to rights. It’s like a therapy session. I take every day as it comes now."

He explained: "There are some mornings I wake up and think, 'F**k I don’t want to go to work today,' but I’m lucky to still be working."

The star also touched on his four month break from social media. He previously addressed the subject as he spoke to Davina McCall on his podcast Ry-Union.

"It took a lot for me to go back to social media but I knew I had to do it, for want of a better term, to feel normal again because it was part of my job and it was part of my life," he shared.

Speaking about his relationship with social media now, Rylan admits: "Social media is an amazing tool for business and connectivity, but sometimes I need a break to realise it’s not completely real.

"There are some sad bastards on Twitter, and they ain’t going to say it to your face. If they want to, try it – I’m 6ft 4in!"
