Her last album was released in 2018 and she’s since had some major changes in her life. 

And Nicki Minaj thinks taking a break from the music industry has been good for her mental health as she chatted with fans on social media.

The 38-year-old rap star admitted she’s in a much better frame of mind since giving birth to her son in September and being able to bond with her little one.

During a Twitter Q&A, Nicki was asked if she’s benefited from the hiatus as her last album, Queen, was released in 2018. 

‘Great question. Yes. It was soooo needed for me. I appreciate u guys so much for waiting,’ she said. 

‘But yea, very much needed that zen for important bonding time w|my son, getting back fluid w|writing & smthn else I don’t want to discuss yet. If u know u know.’

The Super Bass singer welcomed her first child with husband Kenneth Petty on Sept. 30 in Los Angeles.

Minaj also noted there her son ‘hated rap music when he was in my tummy’ and played Enya while she was pregnant.

‘He’d kick rlly hard. But he was bopping a lil bit to #SeeingGreen b4 I released it,’ she said. ‘While pregnant I could only play him soothing music like Enya/classical, etc. he’d be more relaxed. It’s why i couldn’t rlly complete my album preggers.’  

Nicki recently confessed that losing her father has been ‘the most devastating loss’ she’s faced in her life.

Robert Maraj died in February after being struck by a car in a hit-and-run incident, and earlier this month, Nicki broke her silence on the tragedy.

The Starships hitmaker still isn’t ready to talk about the incident in detail, but she offered fans an update on her mental health in a post on her website.

Nicki, who’s full name is Onika Tanya Maraj, wrote: ‘Tho I can’t really bring myself to discuss the passing of my father as yet; I can say it has been the most devastating loss of my life. I find myself wanting to call him all the time. More so now that he’s gone. Life is funny that way. May his soul rest in paradise. He was very loved & will be very missed.’

She honored her father on what would have been his birthday on Sunday, May 16, with a photo captioned: ‘Happy Birthday Daddy. Miss u so much. So much. So so much. Rest In Peace. Oh my God.’
