The curls are back! Nicole Kidman, 54, swaps her straight locks for the hairstyle that made her famous in the ’80s in a series of TV interviews

Nicole Kidman burst onto the acting scene in the ’80s with her vibrant red curls in films such as BMX Bandits. 

And the Oscar winner, 54, has returned to her roots, rocking her natural curls in a series of TV interviews promoting her new show Nine Perfect Strangers.

Nicole, who is often seen gracing the red carpet with straight hair, showed off her natural locks when she appeared on The Project and Good Morning America.

Nicole is also rocking a colour that’s closer to her natural red hair, opting for strawberry blonde.

The Moulin Rouge! star, who is married to country musician Keith Urban, has previously spoken about her natural curly hair.

She once said she regretted straightening her hair when she was young.

‘I wish I had my curls back’: The Moulin Rouge! star, who is married to country musician Keith Urban, has previously said she regrets straightening her hair when she was young

‘I wish I had my curls back,’ Nicole said. ‘I tortured them to death. I always say, “Don’t ruin the ringlets!”‘

Nicole revealed on Wednesday she stayed in character as wellness guru Masha Dmitrichenko the whole time while filming Nine Perfect Strangers.  

Fortunately her husband didn’t have any problems being married to Masha.

Nicole said on The Project that Keith in fact took a fancy to the blonde character.

‘My kids would hear me talking in the accent all the time, to the point that they didn’t even notice it,’ she explained to host Carrie Bickmore.

‘Keith was really into Masha so that was good,’ she added with a cheeky smile.

Carrie then brought up how Nicole had posted a racy image of Keith on Instagram licking her neck to celebrate their fifteenth wedding anniversary. 

Her biggest fan: Fortunately her husband didn’t have any problems being married to Masha

‘I love the pic you posted of him licking your neck,’ Carrie said.

‘Is that while you were in character or is that what you’re normally like, you saucy things!’

‘That’s um, yeah that’s us,’ Nicole replied. ‘You’ve gotta have spice. Sugar and spice, right? Sugar and spice is the key to 15 years.’
