‘My blood pressure can’t take all of this’: Peaky Blinders fans stunned as Tom Hardy’s character Alfie Solomons returns from the dead as show sees 25 brutal stabbings in the most violent EVER series finale

  • Fans of the BBC drama were in for a shock as Tom Hardy resumed his role as Alfie Solomons – despite the character being ‘shot dead’ at the end of series four

The Jewish gangster, played by Tom Hardy, was last seen seemingly being shot to death at the end of series four.

But Peaky Blinders fans were in for a shock as Alfie Solomons made a spectacular return to the hit BBC show as the fifth series came to a violent close on Sunday night.

And in addition to the unexpected resurrection, the finale was the most brutal ever as 25 stabbings took place within in two minutes as Cillian Murphy’s Tommy Selby and the razor gang took on Oswald Moseley.

Mad Max star Tom made a welcome return after previously being presumed dead after being assassinated by Tommy.

But as the episode showed, the character survived his brush with death and had been lying low in the seaside town of Margate ever since. 

Tommy sought him out in the hopes to buy some of his men so he could carry out his plans to execute fascist politician Oswald. 

After finally coming face to face with his old acquaintance, Alfie asked: ‘How soon did you know I was not dead?’

To which Tommy replied: ‘You wrote me a letter Alfie.’

Realising his error, Alfie responded: ‘I was on a lot of drugs.’

Recalling what happened after his shooting,Alfie said: ‘I was lying out there when the tide came in woke me up. I was looking around thinking f**k, if this is hell it looks a lot like Margate.’

Reacting to the news that their favourite character was back from the dead, Peaky Blinders fans took to Twitter in their droves, with one writing: ‘Just caught up with #PeakyBlinders Good god, my heart is racing. Alfie Solomon, I bloody KNEW he’d be back.’

Meanwhile, the end of series five saw one of the show’s bloodiest and goriest endings ever as 25 stabbings took place within in two minutes.

Taking to Twitter once more, fans of the BBC series were quick to air their shock and horror that Aberama’s life was brought to an end in such a gruesome way.

‘Trying to think of ways abarama can still be alive despite being stabbed in the chest 43 times #PeakyBlinders,’ tweeted one person.

While another exclaimed: ‘PeakyBlinders Aiden Gillen must be checking his nxt script 4 any knives’ thas twice he’s been stabbed to death! Little Finger/Abrarama Gold.’

‘I feel Aiden Gillen is going for the award for most deaths on TV/film – formerly called the Sean Bean Award #PeakyBlinders Also Michael sold them out. And Tom Hardy returning was the least surprising twist of all time. Basically the best thing about this season was the fascist!,’ remarked a third.

A fourth remarked: ‘#PeakyBlinders Was still coming to terms with John Shelbys death and now Aberama has been murdered. People wonder why I have attachment issues… Peaky Blinders, that’s why!’

Elsewhere, Tommy’s pal Barney was shockingly shot in the head as their plan to assassinate Oswald Moseley failed spectacularly.

And Arthur narrowly avoided death as he fought back and stabbed his attacker.

While it looked like the end for Tommy as the series ended with him seemingly about to shoot himself in the head after being urged to do so by the ghost of his dead wife.
