Looks like Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are filming their very own docuseries! Which no, will not be called Keeping Up with the Sussexes despite the internet having ~jokes~. Page Six reports that Meghan and Harry are working on an “at-home with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex-style” style series and that Hollywood insiders are “abuzz” about the show.
A “producer in the know” tells the outlet that “the timing is still being discussed” and that “things are up in the air,” but apparently Netflix wants the series to air by the end of this year so that it comes out at around the same time as Prince Harry’s memoir. However, Harry and Meghan would prefer for it to air next year instead.
The couple were seen with cameras during the Invictus Games last month, but that footage is reportedly being used for a Netflix project called Heart of Invictus. The docuseries is completely different, and the couple are said to have allowed cameras into their Montecito home for it.
It’s unclear what the show will cover (or if Harry’s ongoing issues with the royal family will be featured), but a “highly placed Hollywood insider” tells Page Six that “I think it’s fair to say that Netflix is getting its pound of flesh.”
We do know that the couples’ upcoming trip to England for the Queen’s Jubilee likely won’t be heavily included because the royals have made it clear that cameras aren’t allowed at many of the events. A source told The Sun in early May that “A team of Palace aides will be on standby to keep a very close eye on the crew, and act as minders if needs be.”
The outlet also noted that palace aides and Harry’s brother Prince William are, as ever, spiraling:
Literally cannot wait to watch this show.
