Prince William has said his thoughts are with Christian Eriksen and his family after Denmark's attacking midfielder collapsed during his country's European Championship game against Finland.
The 29 year old professional footballer was seen doing a light jog down the field as he prepared to receive a throw-in in the 43rd minute of the opening game in Group B when he fell to the ground.
Referee Antony Taylor immediately signalled for medical attention while Eriksen's teammates shielded him as they formed a circle around him as he was given CPR.
Eriksen was taken off the field on a stretcher and UEFA later released a statement revealing the footballer was stable.
They tweeted: "Following the medical emergency involving Denmark’s player Christian Eriksen, a crisis meeting has taken place with both teams and match officials.
"The player has been transferred to the hospital and has been stabilised."
While the Danish Football Association posted: "Christian Eriksen is awake and his condition remains stable. He remains hospitalized at Rigshospitalet for further examinations."
Now, the Duke of Cambridge has spoken out about the terrifying incident as he shared on Twitter: "Encouraging news about Christian Eriksen, we are all thinking about him and his family.
"Well done to the medical team and Anthony Taylor for their calm and swift action. W".
Pundit Gary Lineker, 60, and 36 year old Alex Scott witnessed the incident while speaking on the BBC and couldn't help but get emotional about what happened.

“Alex, I mean, it’s very difficult to know what to say isn’t it, except let’s hope he’s okay."

She continued: "As you said Gary, I think football completely goes out the window right now and you're thinking about his family, all the rest of the players that are out there witnessing it as well."
TV presenter Alex then confessed she contacted her own mum to express her love after Christian's terrifying collapse served as a reminder to her the importance of family.
Choking up, she added: "I actually just got on my phone and messaged my mum and told her I love her. I think it's a reminder of how quickly life can change, just like that."
