Quentin Tarantino defends his use of the N-word in his movies: ‘If you have a problem with my movies then they aren’t the movies to go see’
Quentin Tarantino is defending his long-controversial usage of the N-word in his movies in a new interview.
The 59-year-old filmmaker was a guest on the HBO Max series Who’s Talking to Chris Wallace, when Chris Wallace asked about the controversial aspects of his films.
Wallace asked, ‘You talk about being the conductor and the audience being the orchestra. So when people say, “Well there’s too much violence in his movies. He uses the N-word too often.” You say what?’ Tarantino responded, ‘You should see something else.’

‘Then see something else. If you have a problem with my movies then they aren’t the movies to go see. Apparently I’m not making them for you,’ Tarantino said.
One of the director’s longtime collaborators, Samuel L. Jackson, defending Tarantino’s writing in a 2019 interview with Esquire.
‘It’s some bulls**t. You can’t just tell a writer he can’t talk, write the words, put the words in the mouths of the people from their ethnicities, the way that they use their words,’ Jackson said.

‘You cannot do that, because then it becomes an untruth; it’s not honest. It’s just not honest,’ he added.
Tarantino’s Django Unchained star Jamie Foxx also had no issues with the N-word – which was said over 100 times in the script.
‘I understood the text. The N-word was said 100 times, but I understood the text — that’s the way it was back in that time,’ Foxx told Yahoo! in 2018.

Tarantino has been doing press for his new book Cinema Speculation – a collection of essays centering on ‘key American films from the 1970s’ that he saw as a child.
He also confirmed during an interview with CNN that his upcoming 10th movie – that hasn’t been announced yet – would be his last.
‘I’ve been doing it for a long time. I’ve been doing it for 30 years. And it’s time to wrap up the show. I’m an entertainer. I want to leave you wanting more,’ Quentin said.

‘I don’t want to become this old man who’s out of touch… already I’m feeling a bit like an old man out of touch when it comes to the current movies that are out right now. And that’s what happens. That’s exactly what happens,’ he added.
While he has long said that he would ‘retire’ after 10 movies, there is no indication if he has a final project in mind yet.
‘I’m also not in a giant hurry to make my last movie either. So I’ve got my book, I’m doing a few other things and then I’ll figure out what the next movie will be,’ Tarantino teased.
