Aaron Ramsey’s agent has apparently dropped a hint over the future of the Arsenal midfielder, currently in talks with the north London club over a new contract.
The Welshman has entered the final year of his contract at Arsenal, and had some reservations over his value to the first team.
Ramsey was substituted early against Manchester City then dropped against Chelsea. He was returned to the fray for the Gunners’ win over West Ham, playing the full 90 minutes of the fixture.
Emery chopping and changing his starting XI cast doubt over whether Ramsey has a future under the Spaniard, prompting him to confront his boss.
The Gunners manager revealed: "I spoke with him last week. I said, ‘I want you focused only on training and only on the match, you show us the capacity to help the team’.
"The contract is another thing for his agent and the club, but we want – and I need – his focus only on training, on the match and his performance each day.
"I want the player to be focused only on Saturday. So that our players give our supporters quality and energy."
On Twitter on Tuesday morning, Ramsey’s agent Avid Sports and Entertainment Group posted: "Hoping for some big news today!"
The tweet doesn’t mention Ramsey directly, and the agency does represent more people than just the Wales international.
But Ramsey is one of the agency’s biggest clients, and the midfielder’s ongoing contract negotiations haven’t been out of the news recently.
Responding to the tweet on social media, one Arsenal fan wrote: "I have everything crossed it’s that Rambo is staying."
While another, a little more cautious, added: "Don’t be trolling us boss please. If it’s a Kenny Miller contract at Dunfermline I’m not going to be amused."
Will this be Aaron Ramsey’s last season at Arsenal?
