Ruth Langsford has been in a relationship with Eamonn Holmes for 23 years but the couple have only been married for 10 years. The This Morning host opened up about her other half as she dished on the TV veteran in a candid interview.

The 60-year-old presenter revealed she had “fancied” Eamonn before she met him when he was a presenter on GMTV.

Eamonn was previously married to Gabrielle Holmes and they have three children; Declan, 31, Rebecca, 29, and 27-year-old Niall.

The This Morning couple are parents to their only child together, son Jack, 18.

The Northern-Irish born broadcaster got engaged to Ruth in 2009 and they married the following year.

They met in 1997 after they were introduced through a mutual friend, TV presenter Sally Meen.

Speaking about her spouse, Ruth dished: “Before I even met Eamonn, I was a big fan.

“I used to watch him on GMTV andI always thought he was handsome, funny and a brilliant journalist.

“It was nerve- racking when I did meet him; I remember thinking, ‘Oh, my God, that’s Eamonn Holmes!’”

She continued in an interview with Prima magazine that the couple have maintained a “strong” relationship.

Ruth explained: “Having respect for each other is really important in a relationship.

“It’s nice to be a couple, but we are individual people.”

She continued: “Eamonn and I can have big rows and argue, then 10 minutes later we’re laughing about something.

“We’ve been together 23 years so it has been a long and happy relationship but we have our moments.”

Ruth revealed that the pair can get on each other’s nerves at times but they make their relationship work.

“There are times when he really annoys me and I really annoy him and there are times when I think, ‘Get out of my face,'” Ruth remarked.

“Obviously, you’re not always going to get on, but you have to make it work.
