Rylan Clark-Neal has revealed he’s taking a break from social media after becoming ‘enraged’ by vile trolling.

The presenter, 32, compared his use of online platforms to being like a ‘drug’ after becoming hooked on scrolling through negative messages.

Rylan admitted he would get upset reading the nasty comments left by trolls on social media, and made the decision to log off three weeks ago.

Speaking on the Sorted With The Dyers podcast, Rylan said: ‘I love social media, social media is not only lucrative when it comes down to money, it’s brilliant for communication, there are so many plus sides to it.

‘But I found in the last three weeks, me looking at my phone, looking at my feed, looking at what is trending more so and I’m just getting to that point where I’m thinking this is a f***ing sewer.

‘This is an absolute sewer. I feel like I could tweet ”the sky is blue” and I would have 2 million people back and claim it’s every other colour under the sun.

‘And the worst thing about it, they would believe that and that’s their truth. I’m getting to that point where I don’t want to be a part of this because it actually enrages me.’

Rylan went onto warn other social media users of the dangers of spending too much time on the platforms, after making the decision to quit nearly a month earlier.

He said: ‘How many people do we see where it’s literally just advertisements. I never wanted to be that person but I’m getting there. If it becomes a work thing, at least my mentality will be f***ing sane.

‘The whole first year of my career was a f***ing public vote. I wouldn’t be where I am now without people voting for me on X Factor and Big Brother, I’ve always been grateful for that and that is what keeps me grounded.

‘But then at the same time, thank you but I just can’t f***ing deal with the craziness of it all. I go looking for it as well, it’s awful. We’re f***ing curious weirdos.

‘It’s a drug and whether you want it or not, subconsciously you will always check and see how many people liked that, how many people commented on that, oh that didn’t perform well. What are we doing? Why can’t I stop myself from doing it?’

Rylan also suggested to host Danny Dyer that ditching social media could benefit to his health, after the EastEnders star revealed he needed to have surgery on one of his testicles.

Danny said that swelling on his testicles caused by hydrocele has led one to look like a ‘f***ing jacket potato.’

‘One of them is like a f***ing jacket potato’: During the same podcast, host Danny Dyer revealed that he has to have surgery on his testicles after suffering from a swollen scrotum

He said: ‘I’m thinking about having a bit of laser (eye) surgery but the other thing I’ve got to get done is my b*****k. I’ve got a massive b*****k, it’s called a hydrocele.

‘Basically one of them is like a f***ing jacket potato. For real. It’s one big b**l. So I’ve got the biggest b*****k in the world and the smallest b*****k in the world.

‘If it’s a cold day then my winkle looks like a little slug lying on an apple. That’s going to be the priority.’

Hydrocele is a type of swelling in the scrotum that occurs when fluid collects in the thin sheath surrounding a testicle.

Danny explained that he will undergo hydroelectomy to repair the condition, and he hopes to get medical assistance later in the year when the NHS is no longer strained by the coronavirus crisis.
