Scarlett Johansson is launching the ‘clean and effective’ skincare brand, The Outset, on March 1.
It was unveiled Tuesday via an official Instagram page and website, each featuring black-and-white campaign images of Johansson and a slew of diverse models.
She co-founded the skincare line with Brooklyn-based entrepreneur Kate Foster.

The Outset is just one of many celeb-owned beauty brands to be released over the past year, including Jennifer Aniston’s Lolavie and Ariana Grande’s r.e.m. beauty.
‘THE START OF YOU. Clean and effective skincare to elevate your everyday,’ reads one Instagram post, while others emphasize The Outset’s ‘return to the essential’ and rediscovering ‘freedom in the uncomplicated.’
In a brief video uploaded to the page, Johansson stressed that The Outset will be a brand that is ‘truly universal and accessible.’

Taking to her own Instagram, Foster opened up about meeting Johansson ‘two years ago’ through ‘mutual connections’ in the beauty industry.
‘When Scarlett shared her vision for a reliable, everyday skin system that was clean, elevated, and as effortless as slipping on your favorite white tee, I was hooked,’ she recalled.
She immediately got to work on bringing the brand to life amid the coronavirus pandemic without sacrificing ‘heart and intention.’

Foster and Johansson hope to create ‘conversations around a democratic approach to beauty that doesn’t discriminate by gender or generation’ through The Outset.
Though nothing has been unveiled, one Instagram post did confirm that there will be a ‘range’ of products available at launch.
