Sean Young calls out Warren Beatty, Steven Spielberg and Ridley Scott as toxic men she worked with in Hollywood

Sean Young called out Warren Beatty, Steven Spielberg and Ridley Scott in a new interview where she named men she worked with in Hollywood she believed to be toxic.

The 61-year-old actress, whose films include Scott’s Blade Runner and Spielberg’s Dune, was asked by The Daily Beast Monday about an interview she did with the late Carl Reiner, who had said that a noted director had derailed her career by labeling her difficult to work with.

She said that Warren Beatty, who she worked with in 1990’s Dick Tracy before she was replaced in her role, ‘was definitely one of them,’ and that ‘Spielberg was another.’

She said Beatty wasn’t ‘the worst of the bunch,’ noting rampant abuses in Hollywood at the time.

‘I think the sleazy or difficult part is that he probably thought he was treating me really well,’ Young told the outlet. ‘You know what I’m saying? It’s not just Warren – it’s across the board. Ever since the movie business began, women have been treated as a commodity.’

She added, ‘There was always someone grabbing you, and I just ignored it.’

Young said that she was likely unintentionally perceived as ‘offensive’ due to her straightforward demeanor.

Young said that her problems with Scott stemmed from her rebuffing his romantic advances, and him setting her up in an aggressive sex scene with Harrison Ford as a result 

She added, ‘I only got offensive later because I started getting pissed off, like, “This is serious. This is my career. You don’t just blacklist me.” It’s terrible.’

‘I think Ridley was like, ‘F*** you,”‘ she said. ‘I was thinking, ‘Why did this have to be like that? What was the point of that?’ and I think it was Ridley’s none-too-subtle message that he was getting even with me.’

Young said that the hard feelings lingered into the making of the 2017 sequel Blade Runner 2049, in which she reprised her role as Rachael in a 30-second cameo in hologram form.

‘Wasn’t that so full of s***? And there was nothing I could do about it,’ she said. ‘It was very clear that they knew that the audience would be upset that I wasn’t in it, but they didn’t want me to b**** about that publicly.

‘So, they paid me some money, made me sign a non-disclosure agreement and gave me 30 seconds. And I was like, fine.’

She said that Jim Carrey stuck out as a supportive big name she worked with, on his 1994 breakout hit Ace Ventura: Pet Detective.

‘He’s the only leading man who ever did that for me,’ she said. ‘Jim came in and said, ‘No, no, no. Whatever you’re hearing is bulls***. She’s great.’
