‘She’s very lucky that she was OK’: Sharleen Spiteri reveals model daughter Misti, 18, was rushed to hospital after being hit by a car while staring at Sam Smith

Sharleen Spiteri has told how her daughter Misti, 18, was knocked down by a car outside her school in North London.

The Texas singer, 53, explained that her daughter had been distracted by superstar Sam Smith, who was obliviously walking nearby.

Sharleen revealed she ran to the school after receiving a phone call to say that Misti had been involved in the accident.

Speaking about the incident to the Sun, Sharleen said: ‘She walked out of college and saw Sam Smith walking down the street and she was that busy staring at them that she walked out in front of a car.

‘She’s very lucky that she was OK. Although she dislocated her shoulder.’

Although she was assured her daughter was fine, Sharleen recalled how she dashed to the school and arrived to see a smashed windscreen.

She said: ‘I thought to myself, “Oh my God, what am I walking into here?” Literally my stomach was turning.’

Sharleen said she was convinced her daughter had been distracted by her phone, before later learning it was actually Sam she had been star-struck by.

The frontwoman added that Sam will have had no idea about the accident because he was too far away in the distance.

Sharleen said the accident happened a day before she moved to Wales, which was shortly before lockdown last year.

Big fan: Sam caught Misti’s eye according to her mother, with the teenager momentarily forgetting about passing traffic  

Misti is a model and has worked for some big name fashion houses including Miu Miu. 

Sharleen shares her daughter with magazine editor Ashley Heath, however the former couple are no longer together.

Sharleen married her long-time partner Bryn Williams in a picturesque ceremony at St.Tyrnogs Church, Llandyrnog Denbighshire, Wales, in September 2018.

According to The Sun, the pair hosted a reception for 500 of their nearest and dearest in a marquee at their home. 

It is also reported that close pal Chris Evans gave the pair his Aston Martin DB9 to drive to the bash.

On stage: The new Texas album will be released next year and the band hope to go on tour, but Sharleen is worried a back injury she suffered in 2018 might cause problems

A source revealed to the publication: ‘It was the most beautiful day and even the grey skies and torrential rain didn’t put a dampener on things — everyone had a ball.

‘Their reception marquee was enormous and some of the locals were joking that it was the size of a football pitch’, they added.

Sharlene first announced her engagement to the culinary star in February 2017, after a decade of dating.
