‘I feel like I’m 10 years old again!!’ Saturday Night Takeaway: Fans relive their childhoods as Ant, Dec and Cat Deeley recreate their classic SMTV spoof Chums

Saturday Night Takeaway fans were in for a treat this weekend as Ant and Dec and their SMTV co-star Cat Deeley recreated their spoof comedy Chums.

The trio hosted their Saturday morning kids show from 1998 to 2003, with one hugely popular segment seeing them create a parody of TV show Friends, with Dec and Cat starring as lovebirds.

And Saturday night saw the gang recreate their classic show with the likes of Sting, Steps, Emily Atack and Brian McFadden joining in the fun.

It’s back! Saturday Night Takeaway fans were in for a treat this weekend as Ant and Dec and their SMTV co-star Cat Deeley recreated their spoof comedy Chums

Fans of Chums will remember that the end of the series saw Dec finally marry the woman of his dreams Cat, with a star-studded guest list that included none other than Mariah Carey as a bridesmaid.

Fast-forward 20 years and while Dec and Cat think they’re preparing to celebrate their big anniversary, little do they know that they’re not actually married as Ant forgot to get their marriage certificate signed all those years ago.

In the remake of their hilarious comedy, Ant gets ordained and prepares to marry the pair for real – with a host of big names making special guest appearances.

Kiss the bride: The hugely popular segment saw them create a parody of TV show Friends, with Dec and Cat starring as lovebirds

Star-studded: And Saturday night saw the gang recreate their classic show with the likes of Sting, Steps, Emily Atack, Eamonn Holmes, Ruth Langsford and Brian McFadden joining in the fun

As well as Chums regulars from back in the day (Steps and Brian), newer faces make an appearance including Emily Atack as Dec and Cat’s daughter and This Morning’s Eammon and Ruth as Cat’s parents.

Sting also pops up to insult Dec, while Simon Pegg and Joe Lycett also take part. 

Watching the hilarity unfold, viewers took to Twitter to share their nostalgia over the sketch from their childhood.

Earlier in the show, viewers were left thrilled as it was revealed that Cat was a guest on the ITV show and had reunited with her SMTV co-stars.

At the beginning of the show, fans were in for a treat as Cat suddenly joined the boys on screen in a dazzling fuchsia dress. 

Taking to social media, many were quick to share their excitement at the presenter taking part in the entertainment show.

Meanwhile, later in the show, Cat was hilariously duped by her pals as she unwittingly appeared in their undercover segment.

The hosts donned disguises and recruited a team of helpers into tricking Cat during a promotional day for her new children’s book.  

Thrilled: Taking to social media, many were quick to share their excitement at the presenter taking part in the entertainment show

The pair hilariously photobombed the star as she posed in a photoshoot, while Ant donned a koala costume and wreaked havoc behind her as she read a story.

The prank culminated in a fire being set behind her with the sprinklers being set off, causing chaos in the studio.

Though Cat rescued the koala from the fire, thinking it was a work experience student inside, she later said in the studio that if she’d known it was Ant, she wouldn’t have bothered. 

Saturday Night Takeaway continues Saturday at 7pm on ITV.
