TikToker claims he was abused by rude Jetstar worker over one question

Tourist claims he was left ‘shaking’ by a ‘rude’ Jetstar employee’s remarks after he asked for directions – but the airline has a different version of events

A TikTok user has shared an alleged ordeal he endured at Melbourne’s International Airport where an airline worker was ‘rude’ to him.

Jayden Clark, a 21-year-old Australian, took to the video-sharing platform to express his shock over the way he was treated by a Jetstar employee working inside the terminal – however the airline has a different perspective on what occurred.

‘When I tell you I am currently shaking, because I never thought I would be abused by airport staff, but here we are,’ Jayden began.

‘I get everyone has bad days and can be a bit snappy at times. But I’ve never experienced any customer service like this.’

Jayden claimed that he only asked the woman, who was wearing a Jetstar uniform, whether or not he was in the right terminal for his flight to Los Angeles because he was travelling on his own.

‘I kind of froze for a second because she had a walkie talkie. So I was like, “Oh, maybe she’s gonna be busy.” And then she just stared at me,’ he added, mimicking the face the staffer had made.

‘Typically, that would annoy me enough where I’d be like, “Okay, let me speak to the manager. Why are you giving me this look? What have I done to you?”‘

The young man then recalled how he’d politely asked her if she could help, as he wasn’t sure if he was in the right terminal for his flight.

‘She asked me what airline I’m flying with, and I said Fiji [Airways],’ he continued.

Things took a turn at that moment, as Jayden recalled the woman aggressively pointed at her uniform and ‘fiercely’ said, ‘Can you see? Can you see? I don’t work for Fiji, I work for Jetstar. Go sit down.’

Jayden said he was ‘taken aback’ by the rude remarks, as he also claimed the staffer ‘yelled’ from across the counter in front of hundreds of other travellers telling him to stop ‘whingeing’.

‘I literally had responded and said, “There’s no need to be so rude.” She was like, “I’m not being rude! I don’t work for that airline!”‘ he said.

‘She was having a go at me in front of absolutely everyone sitting around.’

Jayden went on to claim the woman threatened him after he attempted to take a photo of her name badge.

Proving that he had not taken a photo of her by showing his phone, he said to her: ‘I am shaking right now. You’re giving me so much anxiety.’

A Jetstar spokesperson told Daily Mail Australia on Friday: ‘We’ve spoken to our team member and they have a different version of events to Mr Clark. However, we take all feedback and complaints seriously and our customer team has reached out to better understand his perspective’

He alleges that the airline worker replied: ‘If you’re shaking now, just wait until the AFP get here if you don’t sit down and be quiet.’

Gobsmacked, Jayden said he didn’t want to cause a scene as he didn’t want to get kicked off his flight. But at the same time, he was still shocked with the way he’d been treated and spoken to.

‘I will never fly with Qantas or Jetstar ever again,’ he said.

Jetstar is a wholly owned subsidiary of Qantas and is known for their cheap air fares, but passengers are often faced with issues from the airline.

Last week, a group of passengers were forced to sleep on the floor of a Whitsundays airport after their Jetstar flight was cancelled.

Last week, Jetstar passengers were left to sleep on floor of Proserpine Airport (above) after their flight was delayed by 30 hours

The passengers were stranded at Proserpine Airport for 30 hours after the plane they were due to board experienced an engineering issue and was unable to depart.

The peak school holiday season meant most accommodation was already booked out, so there was nowhere to put the passengers once the flight was cancelled.

A Jetstar spokesperson explained that bad weather in Proserpine meant the airline could not fly a replacement aircraft or even an engineer to fix the problem.

‘We’re really sorry for this lengthy disruption and know it would have been an uncomfortable night for passengers,’ they said.

Jetstar tried to organise a flight to take passengers to Brisbane where there would be accommodation, but fog prevented the flight from landing in the Whitsundays.

Food, drinks and support were reportedly available through the night for passengers.

The passengers landed in Melbourne on Wednesday afternoon.
