He teamed this with a navy padded jacket and tan combat trousers as he walked along the airfield.
He later changed into a khaki green flight suit as he climbed into the plane and showed off his aviation skills.
It was previously reported that the Minority Report star was learning to fly a World War II biplane for the eighth installment of the action franchise.

A source told The Sun: ‘Tom had started to learn to fly a Boeing Stearman biplane earlier this year for a major stunt scene in Mission: Impossible 8.
‘It’s obviously a highly skilled task but as usual he has no plans to cut any corners or bring in a stuntman.’
The insider went on: ‘Filming has only just wrapped on Mission: Impossible 7 but Tom has not given himself a break. And trying to film jaw-dropping scenes with an 80-year-old plane is particularly dangerous.’
The action man is renowned for doing his own stunts in his films, and it appears the eighth installment of the Mission Impossible franchise will be no be different.
Cruise holds a helicopter license and a fixed-wings pilot’s license.
The outing comes after the thespian recently shocked fans with his changing appearance while at an LA Dodgers game.

Cruise was enjoying a night out at Oracle Park to watch the San Francisco Giants play the Los Angeles Dodgers with his son Connor, 26, by his side on October 9.
While many Twitter users genuinely appeared skeptical that it was indeed Cruise at the game, others likened his appearance to Canadian stand-up Norm Macdonald, the former SNL star who passed away last month.

An insider told The Sun about the split: ‘It has been a very intense period of filming together. They really got on well – but as the latest film winds down they’ve decided to go back to being friends.
‘Their filming schedules are very full-on, and Tom has a number of other commitments coming up and is always shooting around by private helicopter and jet so it just ran its course.
‘But they’re still happy to work together. It’s a shame, but just one of those things. They still get on well.’
