At the end of a very long year, Carhartt WIP is celebrating its customers’ ongoing support with one special drop. Its first special release of 2021 is a bespoke iteration of the brand’s signature chore coat, elevating the workwear favorite with tough black cowhide, yielding a sleek take on a sturdy staple.
All of the usual details that one would expect from a WIP chore cat are here, including a quartet of pockets and branded snap button closure at the placket and arm holes. Granted a matte finish, the leather rides a fine line between luxury and utility, promising a reliably strong yet supple shell, complete with tonal lining for extra comfort. It’s also cut with WIP’s trim fit, adding additional appeal for those seeking to avoid the usual boxy cut of blue collar outerwear.
Finally, the limited edition leather jacket offers some touches specific to WIP’s whims, including a flap pocket at the chest and anatomical seams at the wrists. To appropriately complete the special design its left-hand chest pocket boasts a leather rendition of Carhartt’s logo tag.
The leather chore coat drops January 2 on Carhartt WIP’s web store and Japanese flagships for ¥63,000 JPY (approximately $610 USD).
This drop caps a busy month for Carhartt WIP, which recently issued a La Haine-inspired capsule and charitable wearables.
