A CRAFTY mum has revealed how she transformed a rocking horse into an amazing zebra using nothing but paint.
Natalie Dunleavy took to the Facebook group The Frenchic Fan Forum where she shared snaps of her incredible handiwork.
The mum revealed she had purchased the rocking horse for just a tenner on Facebook as a gift to her friend’s baby for Christmas.
She then gave the traditional toy a funky makeover using the popular Frenchic paint.
Captioning her post, Natalie shared her method.
She wrote: “Rocking horse £10 on marketplace given a new lease of life as a surprise present for my friend’s baby’s first Christmas.
“I dismantled and removed the rocker and arms and painted the horse in Swanky Pants as the colours were very deep. 4 coats of Dazzle Me applied with a small oval brush.
“I then spent hours watching videos of how to hand paint zebra stripes and practising on paper before I plucked up the courage to just do it.
“I didn’t have a detailing brush so I used a very small slanted makeup brush to paint the zebra stripes.
“I used Blackjack and I did thin coats and built it up (took about 4 coats to get the really bold black and also because sometimes I went over the edges) Rocker, handles and arms in a mix of Dusky Blush and Dazzle me with a little pop of Gold and silver frensheen mix on the feet (cause every girl loves a bit of gold).
“Thanks to our new stockist ShowTheCrow.com for all the paint.”
Fellow group members were seriously impressed with Natalie’s brush skills, praising her work in the comments.
One wrote: “That’s just amazing!!!! Stunning transformation.”
“Love this! Good on you for revamping and recycling for a gift! We should give second hand gifts more often. Amazing!” agreed another.
A third added: “That is amazing, you are super talented.”
