From smart water bottles to blankets, these health and beauty products are absolute must-haves for 2021

EVERY week this year it seemed there were new health and beauty products to test – some strange, others amusing.

And a few along the way really amazed us, becoming must-haves for 2021. Below are our absolutely favourites. Happy New Year!

Health

with Jane Atkinson

Water bottle

Using UV-C LED technology, this fancy water bottle cleans itself and purifies the water inside it of up to 99.9999 per cent of bacteria and 99.99 per cent of viruses in just 60 seconds.

Powered by a rechargable lithium battery (one charge lasts up to a month), it is light stainless steel with a silicone sleeve.

For a 740ml bottle, it is crazily expensive. But if you want to stop buying water in plastic, this is cost-effective in the long run.

  • LARQ water bottle, available at livelarq.com for £95 .

Blanket

The Mela weighted blanket is designed to reduce stress and anxiety.

It has positive effects on the hormones controlling the nervous system, making our moods better and stress levels lower.

I’ve always struggled to fall asleep, but after one week I was in love. It makes such a difference to the amount of solid deep sleep I get. Pricey but worth it.

  • THE MELA blanket, available at melacomfort.co.uk, from £109.99 for the 7kg (recommended for 65-85kg weight of an adult).

Veg box

I tried this Abel & Cole box – and subscribed to it. I now eat more veg and feel healthier.

I have tried veg I would never usually buy, such as sea spinach and fennel. The boxes come with a list of what to eat first and offer recipe suggestions.

You can also add pantry staples, like eggs and pasta. There is something to suit every budget.

  • ABEL & COLE BOX, available at abelandcole.co.uk, boxes start at £13.25 per week.

BUDGET

  • Face Halo, £7, boots.com – buy now

This eco-friendly make-up removal tool gets rid of all traces of slap in seconds, using only water.

Fibre strands 100 times finer than human hair work to remove even the most stubborn make-up, then hold on to it so it doesn’t get rubbed back into your skin.

The pads are double-sided and reusable. In fact, they can be washed up to 200 times – so they are far kinder to the environment than single-use face wipes.

MID

  • Ren Glow daily vitamin C gel cream, £38, 50ml, renskincare.com – buy now

A lightweight gel moisturiser infused with vitamin C and tara pod extract to illuminate and even out skin tone, plus magnesium to nourish skin.

This has a gorgeous silky texture and an amazing citrus smell. Gentle enough to use as your everyday moisturiser, I now use it daily.

The right balance of hydration and vitamin C left my skin hydrated and radiant. My favourite.

LUXURY

  • Foreo UFO 2, £249, foreo.com – buy now

A “smart mask” with eight LED settings to target redness, ageing, uneven tone and fine lines.

Heat softens and preps the skin, before cooling makes for a more youthful look. Sonic pulses massage your face while an app guide you through each mask and how to use it.

Pricey but – wow! – worth it. One of the best gadgets I have seen.
