I’m a hairdresser & greasy haired girls are shampooing their locks wrong – here’s how to go longer between washes | The Sun

ANYONE whose hair gets oily quickly knows how annoying it can be to wash your tresses every day.

But according to one hairdresser it might be because you're not doing it right the first time.

Influencer and professional hair stylist Matt Newman shared how you can make sure your locks are squeaky clean and stay that way.

Posting on Instagram, he said: "Do you have greasy hair or are you just shampooing wrong?"

So how should you be washing it?

According to Matt, splitting it into two sections is the way to go.

Use a clip to secure the first part and keep it out of the way while you wash the bottom half.

"We're going to do the bottom, then the top," he explained.

"Get the shampoo really sudsy in your hands before putting it on your hair.

"Now, I'm scrubbing the nape of my neck and around my ears because this is the part we kind of miss," he continued.

Then for the top section scrubbing is a big no-no – it'll leave your hair tangled and won't clean properly.

Matt said: "You want to drop your fingers down and rotate in little circles, lift, drop down. We don't want to drag our hair across our scalp."

Finally, it's time to rinse, and you'll want to make sure you get all the shampoo out – it might seem obvious, but it's easy to leave suds in your locks if you're in a rush.

The hair pro suggested splitting it again, this time left and right, and spend plenty of time making sure the shampoo is totally gone.

Other hair fans loved the shampooing hack, and some even agreed it kept their locks cleaner for longer.

One said: "Yas! This was a game changer for me."

And second agreed: "I do this and my hair's the best it's ever been."
