STACEY Solomon's endless crafting during lockdown led to a much-deserved book deal which comes out next year.
We asked the 38-year-old to pick out her top five creations so you can make them too…
Seasonal Wreath
What you need:
- Basic twig wreath
- Dried leaves
- Fejkas (sunflowers and peonies)
- Pine cones
- Glue gun
- Bag ties
What you do:
- Take a plain twig wreath and experiment with leaf and flower arrangements.
- Once you’re happy with the design, use a glue gun and bag ties to secure your leaves, sunflowers, peonies and pine cones to the wreath.
Pebble Family
What you need:
- Different-sized pebbles
- Glue gun
- Tea light (optional)
What you do:
- Use the largest pebble for the base, then glue the other pebbles together to create a family, with the smallest in front.
- You could also glue a tea light on to the base.
Dreamcatcher
What you need:
- Hoop
- String
- Decorations eg crystals, flowers, leaves
What you do:
- Using a craft or dreamcatcher hoop, wrap string around the hoop until it’s covered.
- Cut 2m of string and tie a knot at the top of the hoop. Working clockwise, stretch the string 5cm across, loop around the hoop and back over itself. Pull the string tight to secure it.
- Loop the string around the middle of the first line and repeat step 2 until you reach the top of the hoop. A circle will form in the middle which will get smaller. Pull the string tight to secure the web.
- You can add string to the bottom to create a fringe and add crystals, flowers and leaves, like Stacey.
Decorative Initial
What you need:
- Cardboard
- Spray paint
- Glue
- Fejkas (optional)
What you do:
- Draw your initial on to a piece of cardboard, or print out a stencil to draw around, then cut it out.
- Snip out 4cm-wide strips along the length of a cereal box. The amount you’ll need will vary for each initial.
- Glue the cardboard strips around the edges of your initial, until it borders the whole template.
- Spray or paint the cardboard white and then leave to dry.
- You could also glue fake roses and leaves to the initial, like Stacey has.
- Finally, glue the bottom of the initial to a weight and display, or use weight-free as a wall hanging.
Norm
What you need:
- Old tights or socks
- for the body
- Old jumper or material for the hat
- Pompom
- Rice for the body filling
- Furry fabric for the hat and beard
- Sewing kit or glue gun to assemble
What you do:
- Cut the foot off the tights or socks, fill with rice and tie.
- Cut a triangle from an old jumper or piece of material, sew or glue in half to create a tall hat and fill with furry fabric.
- Glue or sew the hat to the rice-filled body.
- To make the legs, use the leftover tights, fill with rice and glue or sew the legs to the body.
- Cut some furry fabric into a triangle for the beard and stick to the top of the body.
- Finally, glue or sew a pompom on to the top of the beard for the nose (if you don’t have a pompom, Stacey filled a piece of material with furry fabric and attached it).
