Each flower has its own meaning and when Princess Eugenie walks down the aisle this morning her bouquet will include one very traditional addition – a sprig of myrtle.
Since Queen Victoria included it wedding arrangement, in 1858, every royal bride, including Meghan Markle, has followed suit.
The sprig comes from bush grown from a posy which was given to Queen Victoria, Eugenie’s great-great-great-great-grandmother.
Simon Lycett, the official florist for Princess Eugenie’s wedding to Jack Brooksbank has also hinted that white Dendrobium orchids will be part of the bouquet.
He posted a picture of the blooms on his Instagram with the words; “Dendrobium orchid flowers are so delicate to look at yet wonderfully robust! Perfect for using within decorations such as garlands, a perfect wedding decoration.”
Orchids symbolise beauty and love, making them an appropriate addition to today’s nuptials.
Florist Simon arrived in Windsor yesterday, confirming his role in the royal wedding by posting a picture of the railway station.
He wrote: “Another early start for Team Lycett – and this time a little closer to home #haveflowerswilltravel.”
This morning the steps to St George’s Chapel were lined with a huge array of flowers in autumnal shades or orange and red.
