Why are TikTok users putting ice in the microwave?

THE microwave hack that has everyone rethinking their reheating methods is making its way on TikTok.

TikTok is known for many different trends, and one user's method for reheating leftover rice has people curious.

What is the TikTok ice cube reheating trend?

One of the latest viral trends to come from TikTok is a hack involving leftover rice, an ice cube, and a microwave.

This method of reheating leftover rice is an untraditional approach compared to the usual method of putting water on top of dried-out rice.

You start by placing an ice cube on top of leftover rice. Then, place a piece of parchment paper on top of all of it before placing it in the microwave.

The ice cube helps create steam and reheats the rice. After the rice is hot, remove the paper and throw away the still intact ice cube.

Where did the TikTok ice cube trend originate?

Influencer Emily Mariko originally posted the viral ice cube video in September of 2021.

The video, which Mariko captioned 'Best lunch of the week!', now has over 80million views.

Mariko's TikTok bio says that she is a food, fashion, and lifestyle vlogger with over 8million followers.

TikTok users were quick to try Mariko's hack using the hashtag, #SalmonRiceBowl, which had over 23million views. Users were baffled that the ice cube didn't melt.

Since then, many people have tried the hack on different types of food. However, it seems that it doesn't work on all foods.

Singer and rapper Lizzo gave the trend a try, attempting to heat up a chocolate cupcake.
