MILK is one of the most common household grocery items.
We use milk for things like cereal, coffee, smoothies, and scrambled eggs—just to name a few.
But oftentimes, milk goes bad before we’ve even remembered to pick up a new jug at the grocery store.
Luckily, TikTok cleaning guru @Neat.Caroline said she knows the trick to make it last longer.
“Keep milk off the fridge door and on an upper or middle shelf where it’s coldest,” she revealed.
In the video, she offered a few more storage tips to extend your groceries’ shelf life.
“Store nuts and seeds in the fridge to keep them fresh for much longer,” she said.
This method will allow your nuts to last for up to six months, Caroline claimed.

Her third tip was another dairy-related one: “Keep cheese wrapped in parchment paper, which allows it to breathe while preventing mold growth.”
Caroline claimed the parchment paper holds moisture in.
Next, she turned to fruit storage.
“To keep your berries fresh, line a glass container with paper towel, which absorbs moisture and prevents mold.”
She closed the glass container with a lid and placed it on the fridge’s shelf.
Her fifth tip was for all of those people who prefer soft, spreadable butter: “If you like your butter at room temperature, use salted instead of unsalted butter so that it lasts longer.”
And finally: “Place ginger in a plastic bag with the air pushed out in a crisper drawer,” she said, while placing the Ziploc bag in a refrigerator drawer.
“This will keep out oxygen and moisture.”
Viewers in the comments section praised her for the tips, with the fan-favorite being the berries one:
“OMG raspberry hack changes the game,” one person wrote.
Another asked if Caroline washes the berries beforehand, or only when she plans to eat them. Caroline replied:
“Great question! Only when you plan to eat them—otherwise the moisture makes them soggy and more prone to mold.”
