2. Specialized treatment. BiPAP and VPAP machines will be useful for patients with more complex respiratory diseases, such as: chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, lung pollution, etc.
3. Adaptation. Some BiPAP and VPAP models have the function of automatic adaptive pressure regulation, which allows the device to adapt to changes in the patient’s needs during the night.

The choice between CPAP, Auto-CPAP, BiPAP and VPAP depends on the individual needs of the patient and the characteristics of their respiratory disease. World renowned seabird colonies around the British Isles are being driven to the brink of extinction, warns new research.

Species including the Puffin, Fulmar and Arctic Tern have already suffered ‘catastrophic’ losses as a result of avian flu over the last two years.

Now, a study led by the British Trust for Ornithology (BTO) suggests that the majority of seabird species in Britain and Ireland are also likely to suffer long-term impacts from climate change that may even surpass those recent losses.

The study projects that under a scenario of 3.6°F (2°C) warming by 2050, species such as the Puffin, Fulmar and Arctic Tern could see population declines of more than 70 per cent compared to their numbers at the turn of the millennium.

The results, published in the journal Marine Ecology Progress Series, suggest that marine specialist species – including terns, auks and petrels – are at greater risk than more generalist and adaptable species such as gulls.

Some species may colonise new areas of Britain and Ireland, according to the team.

However, most conservationists warn that is not likely to compensate for declines in areas where they currently breed.

The study found that seabirds are generally present in lower numbers where the air temperature is higher during the breeding season, although each seabird species responded in its own way to different aspects of the marine and terrestrial climate.

But the report concludes that most seabird species in Britain and Ireland will ‘struggle’ due to impacts from warming air and sea temperatures, as well as changes in rainfall patterns and other aspects of the marine environment.

The changes could potentially reduce food availability for seabirds or increase the likelihood of death due to extreme weather events, say scientists.

Study lead author Dr Jacob Davies said: ‘Here in Britain and Ireland, we are fortunate to host internationally important breeding colonies of seabirds.

‘Our research suggests that many of our much-loved seabird species such as the Kittiwake and Puffin are particularly sensitive to the negative effects of warming and are seriously threatened by climate change.

‘Alongside the potential negative future effects of climate change, many of our seabirds are already in steep decline, due to a range of factors including overfishing and avian influenza. 

‘The better we understand the problems these iconic species face and how birds may respond to them, the better placed we will be to help them.’

Dr Rich Howells, Senior Marine Ornithologist, Marine Directorate, Scottish Government, who co-authored the study added: ‘Climate change is the greatest threat to our internationally important seabird populations. 

‘This study provides important information on potential climate change impacts over the long-term, which can be used to inform our conservation actions to increase resilience in seabird populations.’

This orchid was thought extinct until it was spotted in Herefordshire in 2009. It usually grows underground in deep leaf litter only rarely popping its white flower above the surface to attract pollinators.

The Red Helleborine grows in southern England and is best seen in May, June and July

Status: Critically Endangered

Best time to see: May, June and July

Habitat: Dark woodland

Where? Southern England

This orchid grows a stem up to 60cm in height that can carry up to 17 flowers that are a deep shade of pink. Plantlife UK said it may have become rare due to a decline in the population of its pollinators and the right habitat for them.

Spreading Bellflowers are only found in 37 places in the UK

3. Spreading Bellflower

Status: Endangered

Best time to see: July to November

Habitat: Woodland

Where? Welsh borders and west Midlands

The Spreading Bellflower is only found in 37 10-km square areas in the UK, but in very small numbers. It is threatened by changes in woodland management, such as the end of coppicing and other disturbances, and an increased use of herbicides on roadsides and railway banks.

The Crested Cow-wheat grows in East Anglia and other parts of the UK

4. Crested Cow-wheat

Status: Endangered

Best time to see: July and August

Habitat: Rocky Hillside meadows and roadsides

Where? East Anglia and other areas

The plant grows to 15 to 40cm high and produces pink flowers with yellow lips. It grows in meadows, competing with scores of other plants to attract insects.

5. Cotswold Pennycress

Status: Vulnerable and Near-Threatened

Best time to see: April and May

Habitat: Farmland

Where? Cotswolds

It sprouts mainly in the Cotswolds, and can be seen growing out of hedges, walls and banks.

Ploughing, the levelling of rough land, increased use of fertilisers and herbicides and neglecting marginal land have all led to the plants gradual demise. It is often choked by thicker smothering plants.

6. Lady Orchid

Status: Critical

Best time to see: April, May, June

Habitat: Edges of woodland and grassland

Where? Kent and Oxfordshire

This purple-coloured orchid produces large stems of 200 flowers that grow up to 80cm in height. It can be seen growing on the edges of woodland, and sometimes in open grassland.

This meadow plant has been in decline since less land was used for grazing meaning it was smothered by others

7. Meadow Clary

Status: Vulnerable/Near Threatened

Best time to see: Spring and Summer

Habitat: Grassland

Where? Oxfordshire, Chilterns and north and south Downs

This plant declined before 1950 when less land was used for grazing and it was smothered by other coarser plants. It is now found in just 21 areas in the south of England, where it was probably re-introduced through ‘wild flower seed’ mixtures.

The sun loving plant grows in open grassland, and along south-facing hedge banks and the southern edges of woodland.

8. One-flowered Wintergreen

Status: Vulnerable/ Near Threatened

Best time to see: May, June and July

Habitat: Pine forests

Where? North-east Scotland

This single-flowered plant grows in damp, shaded areas of pine forests. It is clearly visible against the dark soil and rotting pine leaves. The white flower faces downwards from the end of a tall stem, looking a bit like an umbrella

The Twinflower is a relic from the ice age

9. Twinflower

Status: Unknown

Best time to see: Spring and Summer

Habitat: Woodland

Where? Scotland

An arctic-alpine plant that is a relic of the ice age, It has two pink bell-like flowers on a slender stem and a thicker stem below that creeps along the ground forming small mats. The Twinflower is considered one of our smallest and most delicate native flowers.

It now grows in just 50 unrelated sites following changes in woodland management.

10. Lesser Butterfly-orchid

Status: Vulnerable/Near Threatened

Best time to see: June & July

Habitat: Woodland, grassland, heathland and wetland

Where? England, Cardiganshire in Wales, and parts of Scotland and Northern Ireland

This white-flower orchid has been lost from 75 per cent of the English countryside since records began. Growing a 30cm-high stem, the plant is now scattered across open areas and those with acidic soil. The best chance of seeing it is in the Cae Blaen Dyffryn Nature Reserve, Wales, which hosts a population that can exceed 3,000 in good years.

The orchids decline may be linked to a symbiotic fungus it depends on to grow, according to Plantlife UK, which is very sensitive to fertilisers and fungicides. Their use on open grassland may have played a part in the plants march towards extinction.

The plant prefers Beech and Hazel woods

11. Yellow Birds-nest

Status: Unknown

Best time to see: All year

Habitat: Beech and Hazel woodland

Where? UK-wide

The whole plant is a yellow-brown colour, and tends to grow in leaf litter in shaded woodland. However, it began to decline after 1930, possibly due to changes in woodland management, overgrazing and habitat fragmentation.

‘Based on initial information we can confirm there are dead and injured people at the site,’ police said on social media platform X, formerly Twitter.

Police in the Czech Republic’s capital urged residents to shelter and avoid the area ‘due to an ongoing shooting incident’ close to Charles University in the centre of the city.

The sickening sound of gunfire could be heard in Prague as armed police officers descended onto the scene. 

The British Embassy in Prague has urged people in the city, a hotspot for tourists, to avoid the around the Charles University and the Faculty of Arts.

Kevin Liu, 28, is a pet-sitter in his free time and uses the extra cash to supplement his salary working in tech.

Kevin was inspired to do a side hustle when he was laid off from his job during the pandemic.

Speaking to Insider, he said: “After that, I started to think about how I could diversify my income stream to be more financially secure.

“I wanted to make sure that if I ever got laid off again, I'd still be able to cover my basic living costs such as rent and food. And, if it didn't happen again, I'd have some savings.

“It was during that time that I saw a YouTube video about pet sitting. While I was busy with my studies, I kept it in the back of my mind, because I loved the fact you could be paid for something that was fun.”

In June 2020, Kevin joined the pet-sitting app Rover and set his radius for six miles around his home in Austin, Texas.

He got his first booking within a month, which was looking after a puppy in a one-bedroom flat.

Kevin, who works as a project design lead, didn’t have any experience looking after pets but the fact he worked from home all day went down well with the owner. 

He initially charged £20 for the day, but realised that his prices weren’t high enough as he was left with £11 after fees and taxes.

This helped him rank higher in Rover search results.

He quickly gained numerous bookings for people heading away for the weekend or going on holiday.

One of the best perks was getting to stay in some incredible houses.

He added: “I enjoyed meeting the people and the pets, and I also got to stay in some beautiful homes. I stayed in five-bedroom homes with infinity pools, slept in cliff-top houses with amazing views, and even booked one three-story mansion with an elevator.”

When his tech job got more busy, he realised he only had time for people who had more than one pet, to make the money worthwhile.

One of his easiest pets was a snake and five geckos as the snake only needed one meal a week, and the geckos needed a daily spritz of water.

Meanwhile, his longest job was 28 days, and Kevin went the extra mile and not only looked after an elderly Shih Tzu, but also cleaned the house, watered plants and collected Amazon parcels.

He wrote: "I am so sad we can't continue but I am proud of what we achieved and I am sending you so much love."

But Amanda failed to mention of Giovanni in her statement after leaving for 'personal reasons'. leading fans to speculate there was a rift between them.

During the interview, viewers took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to joke that it felt like Ranvir was ‘interviewing herself’ as she kept interrupting Clare.

On Wednesday Ranvir revealed she would be filling in for Kate on Thursday’s GMB after spending the week standing in for Lorraine Kelly.

She told viewers: ‘I’m getting up a bit earlier tomorrow because I’ll be bringing you Good Morning Britain.

‘Louise Minchin will be in the hotseat here. She’ll be joined on the safe here by Meera Syal.’

Derek, 56, has been plagued with health woes after contracting Covid in 2020 and is now said to be fighting for his life after being taken dangerously ill last Monday.

GMB presenter Kate is said to be holding a 24/7 vigil by his bedside and has cancelled all work commitments while his family ‘pray for a miracle’. It is expected she will spend Christmas at her husband’s bedside in hospital .

Derek has been in and out of hospital after he fell seriously ill with coronavirus at the very start of the pandemic in March 2020, and was left with lasting damage to his organs.

Doctors put him in a medically induced coma and he became the longest-suffering coronavirus patient in the UK after spending 13 months in hospital, apart from Kate and their two children – Darcey, 16 and Billy, 13.

However, he has readmitted several times with numerous health issues, including kidney failure, brain inflammation and liver damage.

During the interview, viewers took to X, formerly known as Twitter , to joke that it felt like Ranvir was ‘interviewing herself’ as she kept interrupting Claire

Following the heartbreaking turn of events it has been reported that Derek was ‘in great spirits’ and looking forward to Christmas with his family.

A source told The Sun : ‘It was sudden and a shock as he had been doing so well and was in great spirits, looking forward to Christmas at home with the family.

‘This setback has been a huge blow for his family and all the people caring for him.

‘Kate has been utterly incredible — by his side while being an amazing mum to Darcey and Billy, and trying to manage their expectations of a family Christmas.’

Kate recently revealed her family are ‘adjusting to a new normal’ as Derek battles to get better and shared a ‘promising’ update on Derek’s health, hoping it could lead to an improvement.

Speaking to OK! magazine, Kate shared: ‘Derek’s in hospital having some treatment. It’s not an emergency thing, it’s not a dramatic rush back into intensive care, thank goodness. It’s something that started last year that we hope will lead to improvement.

‘I’ve managed to get it in before the end of the year. It’s something we were trying to do in the summer, but there are referrals and time and all of those things.

‘Every day we wait and see. There isn’t a dramatic improvement but touch wood things haven’t gone backwards either. So we’re just adjusting to a new normal.’

The mother and grandmother of a two-year-old girl who fell into a pond and drowned while they tended to their horses instead of her, have both been given a 12-month communtity order.

Masie Lomax-Newton was playing outside at her family’s farm in Atherton, Wigan, when the tragedy occurred on the morning of November 8, 2021.

CCTV footage shows the toddler splashing in puddles and running around Crab Fold Farm, before going to the pond by herself.

She was in the pond for 19 minutes and had been unsupervised for 33 minutes before she was found, Manchester Crown Court heard.

The little girl was rushed to Royal Oldham Hospital but sadly died on December 1.

Mother Emma Lomax-Newton, 30, and grandmother Cindy Molyneux, 52, previously pleaded guilty to child neglect. 

It was indicated to them at the time by the judge that they wouldn’t go to prison.

They were both sentenced to a 12-month community order as well as 15 days of rehabilitation activity requirement (RAR).

Neither women were said to have any previous convictions on their records

Prosecutor Rachel Shenton told the court that on November 8 2021, two-year-old Masie and her one-year-old brother were taken by Lomax-Newton and Molyneux to Crab Fold Farm for their regular daily visit. 

They kept six horses at the farm and looked after horses belonging to other people, the prosecutor said. 

The women and children arrived at around 10am when they started on general maintenance tasks including mucking the horses out and cleaning the paddocks.

Ms Shenton highlighted a few occasions where Masie was out of sight of her mother and grandmother before coming back into view.

The prosecutor said: ‘There was plastic fencing around the pond area, though it appeared to be down in one particular area.

‘Masie was seen there alone for four minutes between 12.18pm and 12.23pm, splashing in puddles.

‘At 12.22pm she then goes back to the farm and is playing by herself before wandering towards a muck heap. 

‘Then from 12.47pm to 12.59pm she is seen walking to the right side of the pond before falling in.’

Lomax-Newton and Molyneux were seen looking for Masie before they found her at 1.18pm that day, the court heard.

Masie was treated for a global hypoxic brain injury, but sadly died on December 1, with her cause of death being recorded as a bronchopneumonic brain injury as a result of drowning.

When interviewed by police, Molyneux said she did not see Masie at the pond but admitted she had a large responsibility for looking after the children and that Masie had been out of her sight for 10 minutes.

Lomax-Newton maintained that her mother looked after the children whilst on the farm, and said she had seen Masie 10 minutes before they found her. 

Neither women were said to have any previous convictions on their records.

The judge said the wider family had been significantly affected by the incident, though to a ‘greater extent’ were the defendants affected themselves.

Mitigating for Molyneux, Rachel Cooper said the harm caused was ‘permanent and palpable’. 

‘The family has to live with the loss of Masie far beyond any sentence.

‘A child left unsupervised for one minute can cause themselves serious harm, just as a child left for half an hour may come to no harm at all’.

Ms Cooper added that there was no suggestion that Masie was ‘anything other than a loved, wanted and cared for child’. 

Judge Nicholas Dean KC, presiding over the case, said: ‘What happened here could have happened to almost any mother or grandmother, even the most caring and careful.

‘A child left unsupervised for one minute can cause themselves serious harm, just as a child left for half an hour may come to no harm at all. There is an element of neglect here but punishment lies in the consequence of that neglect and the fact of the prosecution.

‘It’s a human frailty. There was no malevolence here, just a caution that you cannot ever be too careful.’

As a consequence of her death, social services became involved and found Molyneux to be a ‘loving and dedicated grandmother’, and said the entire family have supported both women. 

The barrister said Masie was described as a ‘bright, loving, bubbly child who enjoyed books, singing and dancing’. ‘She was a much wanted and loved child’.

A British astronaut might be one of the first people to walk on the Moon in over 50 years. 

NASA has announced that one international astronaut will join an American mission to the moon by the end of the decade.

This decision would make the chosen crew member the first non-American to ever set foot on the Moon.  

However, there are no further clues on the identity or nationality of the astronaut. 

In a statement, NASA said that it will ‘make specific crew assignments closer to each mission as the mission parameters and crew criteria are defined.’

The agreement came as part of a meeting of the National Space Council convened by Vice President Kamala Harris on Wednesday. 

Speaking at the council, Ms Harris said: ‘Today in recognition of the essential role that our allies and partners play in the Artemis program, I’m proud to announce that, alongside American astronauts, we intend to land an international astronaut on the surface of the moon by the end of the decade.’ 

However, in November, NASA reportedly told the British Government that it was ‘incredibly possible’ that a British astronaut could be selected. 

If a British astronaut were selected, the most likely contenders would be Tim Peake or one of the three Brits recently selected for the European Space Agency’s 2023 astronaut programme.

Tim Peake, dubbed Britain’s first spaceman, has recently been focusing an ambassadorial work but has said he would like to walk on the Moon in his lifetime. 

The other three potential moonwalkers are John McFall, 42, a surgical trainee and Paralympic medallist; Meganne Christian, 35, a materials scientist originally from Kent; and Rosemary Coogan, 32, an astrophysicist from Northern Ireland. 

John McFall, who lost his leg below the knee in a motorbike accident, was recently filmed undergoing weightlessness training and has been called the first ‘parastronaut’.

Rosemary Coogan, 32, is from Belfast but went to school in Brighton and has two masters degrees in physics from the University of Durham. 

From a young age, she spent several weeks a year away from home onboard military training vessels and land bases as a Cadet Petty Officer with the Sea Cadets from 2002 to 2009.

Meanwhile, Meganne Christian, 35, was born in Kent but moved to Australia at a young age and studied at the University of New South Wales. 

The materials scientist has worked at the National Research Council of Italy in Bologna and as a researcher at Concordia Station in Antarctica, one of the most remote places on Earth. 

This is not the first time that NASA has included international astronauts on trips to space. 

The space agency has partnered with the European, Japanese, and Russian space agencies for decades to send crews to the international space station.

Recently, NASA announced that Artemis II, the second leg of the agency’s new Moon mission, would include a Canadian astronaut.

Canadian Jeremy Hansen will join American astronauts flying around the moon when the mission launches around November 2024.   

Hansen, who introduced Ms Harris at the council, said that including international partners ‘is not only sincerely appreciated, but it is urgently needed in the world today,’ Hansen told the council. 

However, Mr Hansen and the crew of Artemis II will not touchdown on the lunar surface. 

The crew will instead make a full orbit of the Moon in an Orion capsule, gathering data on the Moon’s surface and testing the spacecraft’s life support systems.

This will lay the groundwork for the first people to walk on the Moon since NASA closed the Apollo Program in 1972. 

An Orion capsule will take a crew of four astronauts into lunar orbit.

However, only two astronauts will actually get to walk on the moon while the others remain onboard the capsule or on a small space station called Gateway. 

One American and one international astronaut will join the elite club of ‘moon-walkers’, which currently consists of 12 American men. 

The mission is not anticipated until 2027 at the earliest.

NASA has long stressed the need for global cooperation in space, establishing the Artemis Accords along with the U.S. State Department in 2020 to promote responsible behaviour not just on the moon but everywhere in space. 

Representatives from all 33 countries that have signed the accords so far were expected at the Space Council’s meeting in Washington.

‘We know from experience that collaboration on space delivers,’ said Secretary of State Antony Blinken, citing the Webb Space Telescope, a US, European and Canadian effort.

During Wednesday’s meeting, Harris also announced new policies to ensure the safe use of space as more and more private companies and countries aim skyward.

The issues that the US is looking to resolve include the climate crisis and the growing amount of space junk around Earth. 

A 2021 anti-satellite missile test by Russia added more than 1,500 pieces of potentially dangerous orbiting debris, and Blinken joined others at the meeting in calling for all nations to end such destructive testing.

Meet the astronauts tipped to fly into space with Tim Peake 

Three Britons – including the world’s first ever ‘parastronaut’ – are among the European Space Agency’s first new cohort of astronauts in almost 15 years.

In November 2022, John McFall, Rosemary Coogan and Meganne Christian were named in a class of 17 men and women chosen from a whopping 22,523 applicants. 

They will be hoping to follow in the footsteps of current British astronaut Tim Peake, who spent six months on the International Space Station (ISS) almost a decade ago.

Here’s a closer look at the three adventurers, who may be joined by Major Peake himself on a trip to the ISS. 

John McFall

Britain’s John McFall was named as the world’s first ‘parastronaut’ last November 

John McFall, 42, is a British father-of-three, surgical trainee and Paralympic medallist.

Originally from Frimley in Surrey, Mr McFall had his right leg amputated following a motorcycle accident in Thailand in 2000. 

He was fitted with a prosthesis and is now working with the European Space Agency (ESA) to investigate how such a disability could affect a stint in space.

He won a bronze medal at the 2008 Paralympic Games in Beijing among other honours, before retiring to take up his medical studies at Cardiff University.

He has put his medical career on hold to work with ESA and follow his ‘passion for science and life’. 

Rosemary Theresa Coogan is an astrophysicist from Northern Ireland

Rosemary Coogan, 32, is an astrophysicist originally from Belfast in Northern Ireland. 

She attended school in Brighton and gained two master’s degrees from the University of Durham. 

One of these focused on physics, mathematics, computer programming and astronomy, and the other on gamma-ray emission from black holes. 

Coogan moved to the University of Sussex as a doctoral researcher, studying galaxy evolution and the activity of active galactic nuclei.

From a young age, she spent several weeks a year away from home onboard military training vessels and land bases as a Cadet Petty Officer with the Sea Cadets from 2002 to 2009. 

Meganne studied at the University of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia

She was born in Pembury in Kent but moved to Australia at a young age and attended Illawarra Grammar School in Wollongong. 

She said she was inspired to become an astronaut when one visited her school. 

The materials scientist has worked at the National Research Council of Italy in Bologna and as a researcher at Concordia Station in Antarctica, one of the most remote places on Earth. 

According to ESA, Meganne received several national awards for outstanding research in the field of engineering and industrial chemistry.

In addition to British and Italian citizenship, she also holds Australian and New Zealand citizenship.

Speaking to OK! in an exclusive chat, Ella said that she's still reeling from the end of her relationship with JJ Slater after the couple amicably parted ways in the final episode.

“The final vows were the hardest moment for me and at the time, I didn’t really know whether I wanted to leave him or just be friends,” she said, adding that her relationships on the show – which include first MAFS husband Nathaniel Valentino – left her "slightly traumatised".

“I think I’m still processing our break-up and our relationship.”

While Ella was originally matched with Nathaniel Valentino on E4's MAFS, their relationship didn't work out and she instead discovered a romantic spark with JJ Slater.

Now that her relationship with JJ is over, Ella revealed that she's still friends with the Essex-based fashion brand owner – but she's focusing on herself for now.

"I'm going to stay single for a bit and focus on my career, " she said. "I’ve realised I’m not ready for a relationship so I’m going to have a glow-up and go out with the girls.

“I’ve got a lot of healing to do from the show and a lot of work to do on myself that I didn’t realise until the show – I think that was clear from me watching it and people commenting on social media.”

Speaking about JJ, Ella said that they chat on the phone everyday.

“I wanted a boyfriend but I found an amazing best friend,” she beamed. “He’s just the most amazing soul and he’s changed my life for the better.

"He’s the first guy really who’s ever just accepted me and seen me as Ella. I was loved and accepted by a guy who usually I thought would not look at me twice, with him being an Essex boy and a real lads’ lad.”

She explained: "It's just hectic, total chaos. I've been winding him up saying he's only got three presents. All he does is smash them. He says 'Pinky promise, I won't'."

Who on earth wants to listen to your dribble.."

Meanwhile others lunged in to defend the star after the savage and uncalled for online attack, with one person warning: "Christ if you have nothing nice to say then leave the woman alone. And worry about your own life's… judge your own life's and live in your own skin not in other peoples.

That same person continued to vent: "it's her life leave her to it. Mistakes or no mistakes, we all make them. It's Christmas folks, give her a break. Another barked: "Maybe the nasties could have a day off its nearly Christmas." While a third panto goer chimed in adding: "Katie was absolutely amazing!! She was made for the stage."

Since updating its ‘approach to sexual content’ Wednesday, online live-streaming platform Twitch has seen a new, eye-popping trend among its content creators.

Following the streamer’s loosened restrictions on ‘artistic nudity,’ some of the platform’s users have been chasing viewer traffic with a new tease: simulated, full nudity with fake ‘censor bars.’

Twitch, which rode to success on the popularity of its live streams of video-game players, revised its policy on December 13 — after the platform’s controversial ban of popular new streamer and OnlyFans model Morgpie.

Morgpie was banned after an apparently topless live-feed fundraiser went viral on December 8, only to be restored after Twitch revised its guidelines last week.

Now, a host of other users are pushing the bounds of Twitch’s new policy permitting ‘artistic depictions of nudity,’ including body painting and sexualized cartoons.

The ‘metas’ — an acronym lifted from the realm of ‘massively multiplayer online’ games like World of Warcraft — have come to include self-explanatory titillating content like the ‘hot tub meta’ trend of 2021 and the more baffling ‘fart meta.’

The new ‘topless meta’ and its faux-‘censor bar’ variations are just the latest strategy that some Twitch users have deployed to monetize their streaming content on the platform.

While the tactic has surely drawn attention, some users voiced annoyance with Twitch’s confusing policies and marketing itself. ‘I’m just sick of them trying to have their cake and eat it too by advertising themselves as family-friendly,’ one user posted to Reddit

The video includes a moment where a glitch dropped the censor bars, revealing that Firedancer had been wearing a bra the whole time. 

While the tactic undoubtedly drew attention, some users were annoyed with Twitch’s confusing policies and marketing.

‘Twitch either needs to embrace camgirls and make an adult section, or put an end to this clear softcore pornography,’ one user posted to Reddit.

‘I’m just sick of them trying to have their cake and eat it too by advertising themselves as family-friendly,’ they added. 

The live stream was removed from the website shortly after it was filmed, but other users posted clips that are now featured on her Twitch page

‘I’m not anti-sex work or women showing their bodies,’ another user chimed in, ‘but Twitch ain’t the site for that.’

Others were more critical of Twitch for the perceived reactionary turn that led first to the ban of streamer Morgpie and then the new content guidelines. 

The viral clip of Morgpie had been filmed as a live stream to raise money for the international nonprofit Doctors Without Borders.

While it is not yet public how much money Morgpie raised, the clip states that she at least surpassed her original fundraising goal of $1,800.

‘She was planning on donating her ad revenue too, money which Twitch will just pocket if they decide to uphold the suspension,’ that user, who goes by Sunupu on the platform, continued.

Twitch banned Morgpie from the website on December 11 and later unbanned her once the guidelines changed.

Opening up in a YouTube video, Kylee Carter shared more details about the incident, which she said occurred whilst she was on holiday. 

Twitch’s new guidelines, published under the heading ‘Updating our Approach to Sexual Content and Content Classification Labels’ in a FAQ last week, hoped, first and foremost, to make its policies less ‘confusing’ for its streamers and viewers.

‘We want streamers to feel confident they understand our rules and viewers to feel confident they will get the experience they expect,’ the company said in its post.

‘The former Sexually Suggestive Content policy was out of line with industry standards and resulted in female-presenting streamers being disproportionately penalized,’ Twitch added. 

With the new changes, Twitch streamers will be permitted to broadcast content that ‘deliberately highlight[s] breasts, buttocks or pelvic region,’ even when fully clothed,’ so long as the content is appropriately labeled.

Among the content now allowed, Twitch will permit performers on the platform to engage in body painting and strip teases that include ‘twerking, grinding, and pole dancing,’ so long as the content bears the ‘sexual themes’ label. 

Here, too, the platform does have a limit, however: art of ‘fictionalized sexual acts or masturbation remain prohibited,’ the company said.

A hiker had to be rescued last night by a helicopter after getting lost near an erupting volcano in Iceland.

The aircraft was called to the eruption site on the Reykjanes peninsula to search for the hiker, who managed to flag down the passing helicopter using SOS signals, the Icelandic coast guard said.

Ásgeir Erlendsson, a spokesman for the coast guard, said it was initially reported that two people had become lost earlier in the evening on account of the person becoming separated from their gear.

‘The helicopter found him and took him back to town,’ Erlendsson said. ‘He had become very cold and had left his equipment with a flashlight in another place, which is why it was thought that these were two men.’

People have been urged to stay away from the volcano, which erupted on Monday night. Trill-seekers flocked to the site following the eruption, with people getting as close as possible to the expanding lava field.

However, experts have warned that the on-going eruption could see new fissures open up and rip apart the nearby town of Grindavik, as the area remains on high alert amid uncertainty around what the coming days will bring.

Iceland’s met office announced yesterday that there was an increased risk of unannounced eruptions, with even emergency responders told to evacuate from the town, which is about 25 miles from Reykjavík, Iceland’s capital.

The eruption signals a heightened risk of volcanic fissures opening without warning inside the fishing town – which is home to some 4,000 people and was evacuated after it began to be shaken by earthquakes weeks ago.

Locals have shared videos of their homes being ripped apart, with houses sealed and a number of people told they cannot return after the force of the tremors ripping homes from their foundations.

Iceland’s tourism industry, driven by attractions including the Blue Lagoon which is just a stone’s throw from the eruption, has also taken a huge hit – with some flights delayed and nervous holidaymakers cancelling reservations and pushing back their trips for the coming months.

‘The future is still uncertain,’ Icelandic tourist board boss Jóhannes Þór Skúlason told MBL.is. ‘We have to see how this eruption plays out. If the upheavals continue for a long time, the impact on the tourism industry can be great into next year.’ 

Meanwhile, people around the world have marvelled at the stunning new images coming out of the country, with drone footage showing the steaming lava flows pouring out over snow-capped mountains and laying bare the extent of the 2.5 mile (4km) chasm.

Tens of thousands of tremors have been recorded around Grindavik since a ‘seismic swarm’ first rattled the region in late October, with the Fagradalsfjall volcano threatening for weeks to erupt before Monday’s explosion at Sundhnúkagíga, which has unleashed a much larger flow than any seen in recent years. 

With a huge magma tunnel stretching beneath Grindavik fissures could still open without warning, geophysicist Benedikt Ófeigsson told Icelandic news outlet DV.

‘A magma tunnel was also formed [underground] from which the eruption emerged, and it extends considerably further south and north than the fissures themselves, and we can fully expect that they will start erupting without warning, as actually happened in Fagradalsfjall,’ Ófeigsson warned.

Experts are due to meet to assess the ongoing situation on Wednesday morning after an update last night that the eruption has been weakening.

The volcano has been spewing enough lava to fill an Olympic swimming pool every 20 seconds, an expert said on Tuesday.

David Pyle, a professor of Earth sciences at Oxford University told Live Science that earthquakes around the eruption area have now died down, suggesting the fissure has stabilised.

‘The eruption rate is likely to be in the region of a few hundred cubic metres of lava per second — enough to fill an Olympic swimming pool in about 20 seconds,’ Pyle told LiveScience. 

‘The length of the fissure may be an indication of how much magma had been able to accumulate in the crust over the past few weeks.’

The Icelandic Met Office said in a statement last night: ‘The lava flow is estimated to be about one-quarter of what it was at the beginning of the eruption on 18 December, and a third of the original fissure is active.’

Police have said that the eruption does not pose a danger to life and that no injuries have been reported so far, despite thrill-seekers flocking to the area.

While locals and tourists alike have to witness the incredible nighttime scenes firsthand, authorities have warned that the darkness makes the site even more dangerous.

The biggest risk posed to people living near the volcano is volcanic fumes, authorities said, which could cause trouble breathing or choking.

Fears that poisonous gas from the eruption would impact the Reykjanes peninsula overnight fortunately did not come to pass. 

Pollution levels have gone up in parts of the peninsula however, raising concerns among experts.

People are being asked to stay away from the area as smoke and ash continues to emanate from the eruption.

The Icelandic Met Office estimates that hundreds of cubic meters of lava per second escaped the volcano in the first two hours of the eruption began on Monday, though this has reduced significantly since.

The lava is about 1,200 degrees Celsius (2,200 degrees Fahrenheit). 

The volcano last erupted in March 2021, but before that had been dormant for 6,000 years.

Ricky Gervais has defended making a joke about terminally ill children, telling his critics he wishes them ‘luck’ in getting it removed from his Netflix special, Armageddon. 

The comedian, 62, has come under fire after the clip started circulating on social media, showing the star branding sick children ‘baldies’ and asking those who requested to meet him via the Make-A-Wish Foundation: ‘Why don’t you wish to get better?’ 

Yet speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live’s Nihal Arthanayake about the backlash, the comic insisted the joke had been taken out of context as he hit back at claims of ‘ableism.’ 

He revealed: ‘In the actual skit, I say “I’ve been doing a lot of video messages lately for terminally ill children. Only if they request it. I don’t burst into hospitals and say, wake up baldy”.’

‘I’m literally saying in the joke that I don’t do that. But people have a reaction. They don’t analyse it. They feel something – that’s what offense is. It’s a feeling.’

Ricky continued: ‘That’s why “I’m offended” is quite meaningless. What do you want me to change?’

The star’s joke prompted a petition calling on Netflix to remove the skit from his comedy special and when asked if had seen the specific wording of the petition, Ricky replied: ‘Good luck. That’s what I say to them. Good luck. I’ll even retweet it’.

Ricky then revealed how he he deals with criticism of some of his comedy routines, explaining: ‘Ninety-nine percent of it is faux offense. They’re not really offended. They just want to be heard. 

‘I’ll explain “no, you’ve mistaken the subject of the joke with the actual target.”

‘Of all the millions of people that watched it and loved it, only a few don’t like it. If I give them special attention and try and placate them, I’ve annoyed the other millions of people that got the joke. 

‘They go “no, you’ve ruined it for us!” So, I’ve got a duty to the people that like it and get it.

‘I wouldn’t sit down with a heckler, would I? If I’m playing to twenty thousand people, I wouldn’t stop the show and explain to them. I ignore them.’

Ricky then spoke about whether his comedy was representative of his actual views on controversial issues, saying: ‘Particularly with irony and satire, I’m often playing a character.

‘But some people get confused and think that a joke is a window to the comedian’s true soul.

‘It’s just not true. It’s a joke. No one does this with puns, do they? Two blokes didn’t really walk into a pub.’

Among those hitting out at the comic for his joke were British disability charity Scope. 

During his joke about Make-A-Wish requests, Ricky said ‘I always say yes [to their requests]. And I always start the video the same way. I go “why didn’t you wish to get better? What, you f***ing retarded as well?”‘  

Ricky continues: ‘I don’t do that either, okay. These are all jokes, alright. I don’t even use that word in real life. The R word.

‘I used it in a joke, that’s not real life is it. I’m playing a role.’ 

Yet Scope warned that ‘language like this has consequences’, stating: ‘We wish we were surprised by reports that Ricky Gervais has used ableist slurs in his new Netflix special.

‘Language like this has consequences and we’re just not accepting the explanation that Gervais uses to try and justify this language.’

‘He argues that he wouldn’t use this language in ‘real-life’. But his stand-up routine doesn’t exist in a parallel universe. The stage is real. Netflix is real. The people this kind of language impacts are real.’

Two days later, Scope said it had been forced to turn off its replies on Twitter after receiving hateful messages, while adding that ‘we aren’t here to dictate what anyone should or should not find funny.’ 

‘Comedians using the R-slur emboldens others to use it. We’ve seen this first hand this week, with disabled people being abused directly in the replies to our post. This is real life, whether or not Gervais would use the slur himself outside of his routine.’

The charity added: ‘We aren’t here to dictate what anyone should or should not find funny. But we can’t pretend that this comedy exists in a vacuum. This week has proven that.’

Reality star Ashley, 33, and his partner Safiyya Vorajee have spoken openly about their heartache over their loss and have been raising funds in their late daughter’s name to help other children who are battling cancer.

He posted on his Instagram Stories: ‘I was actually a fan of Ricky Gervais but I had to turn off his stand-up the other day as I was watching it with family and there were multiple jokes about terminally ill children and especially kids with cancer.

‘Some things are just not funny. Especially to those parents who are left behind. 

‘You can get cancelled for so many things these days but it’s ok to make a mockery of dying children. 

‘I’m actually so mad about this.’

Ashley hinted he was struggling to remain calm while composing his message, writing that he was ‘trying to remain as professional’ as possible, adding: ‘I know Ricky makes jokes about having so much money that he doesn’t care about what us people think.’

He continued: ‘But someday he will learn and he best hope it’s not me that has to teach him that lesson. Because I don’t play when it comes to certain things. And that is definitely one of those things.’

Ashley said that he had spent time with other grieving fathers earlier the same day: ‘The maddest thing is, it was only today that I played in a charity match for Good Morning Britain alongside a group of great gentlemen that are part of a charity for bereaved fathers.

‘Each man I stood next to shared each other’s excruciating pain from the loss of a child. 

‘Brilliant men, with beautiful children who were taken from this earth too soon. Left with a hole in their lives that is truly impossible to fill.’

Ashley Cain also hit out at Ricky for making jokes about terminally ill children.  His daughter Azaylia died from acute myeloid leukaemia in April 2021 at just eight months old 

Ricky is no stranger to backlash over his jokes. Last year, the comedian hit back at critics after Twitter’s ‘woke brigade’ turned on Ricky for mocking cancel culture with jokes about transgender people, Adolf Hitler and AIDS in his SuperNature Netflix special. 

He kicks off the show with a warning about irony as he describes the concept of comedy to the audience as ‘basically a bloke talking’, before purposely failing to recall any ‘funny female comedians’. 

In SuperNature, Ricky wastes no time singling out the ‘virtue-signalling’ and ‘dominant mobs’ who are quick to criticise just to ‘bring people down to raise their own status’.

But his jokes were later described as ‘dangerous’ material by an American LGBT rights group, while Stonewall accused him of ‘making fun of trans people’.

In response, Ricky told The Spectator at the time: ‘My target wasn’t trans folk, but trans activist ideology. I’ve always confronted dogma that oppresses people and limits freedom of expression.’

Apple is having a nightmare before Christmas as several of its services have been hit with an outage just days after it announced a halt on smartwatch sales.

The tech giant’s system status dashboard shows Apple Card, Cash and Pay & Wallet are down.

Data shows an estimated 507 million Apple Pay users worldwide and over six million cardholders in the US.

The issues mean millions of people cannot purchase last minute gifts ahead of the holiday.

Apple is having a nightmare before Christmas as several of its services have been hit with an outage just days after it announced a halt on smartwatch sales

The outage appeared to strike at 6:15am ET, impacting ‘some users,’ Apple’s status pages shared.

It is unclear what caused the outage, but Apple shared: ‘We are investigating this issue.’

However, not all users report issues with purchasing items using Apple Pay. 

Apple Card is the tech giant’s credit card issued by Goldman Sachs and designed to be used with Apple Pay. 

Currently, the card is only available in the US and is owned by at least six million Americans.

The news anchor, who was sporting a hi-vis jacket, was presenting a segment from a market hall in Birmingham when the hilarious encounter took place.

A confused-looking man could be seen wandering about behind Ben, 39, who was talking about the rate of inflation on the prices of food ahead of Christmas.

While in mid-flow, the man walks up to Ben and asks him something, to which he replies: ‘I don’t work here, I’m just doing the news!’

From the BBC’s studio in Salford, presenter Jon Kay thanked Ben for fitting his reporting into his ‘shift at the market’.

But suddenly, the child burst into the room in a bright yellow top and performs a comical dance behind the Cleveland, Ohio, native.

Robert, 44, focused entirely on the camera as he attempted to blindly hand off his daughter, who was clearly curious as to who he is talking to.

And his parental problems soon doubled as a baby also excitedly made his way into the room under his own power in a walker.

To complete the farce, his wife Jung-a Kim then came skidding through the threshold.

Eventually, she managed to get them both out, and the interview continued.

When the interview finished, broadcaster James Mernendez says: ‘There’s a first time for everything. I think you’ve got some children who need you!’

And after the segment had finished, the presenter admitted on Twitter that he had struggled to keep it together.

He posted a link to the video, with the words: ‘Hard to keep a straight face.’

Afterwards, he added: ‘It was the desperate reach for the door at the end that nearly did it for me.’

Sending cat videos is something that humans have been doing ever since the first days of the internet. 

But now, NASA has taken one giant leap for feline kind and transmitted the first-ever cat video from space.

To test its state-of-the-art communications laser, the space agency transmitted a video of a fluffy orange tabby cat named Taters. 

The video was beamed from a laser on board NASA’s Psyche spacecraft, which is currently more than 19 million miles (30 million kilometres) from Earth.

While it might be a fun first step, NASA hopes the technology could one day allow astronauts on future missions to video call Earth from as far away as Mars.

The video shows a cat belonging to a Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) employee playing with a laser pointer.

The adorable video is overlaid with additional data such as technical details of the laser broadcast and Psyche’s orbital path.

Tater’s heart rate, colour, and breed are also displayed in the video. 

Joby Harris, an art director for JPL and the owner of Taters, says that he couldn’t be prouder of his cat.

Mr Harris says: ‘I’m celebrating his spotlight with him, but making sure he keeps his paws on the carpet.’

The video of Taters was loaded onto Psyche’s laser communications system before it embarked on its 2.2 billion-mile (3.6 billion-kilometre) trip to the asteroid 16 Psyche between Mars and Jupiter.

NASA’s Deep Space Optical Communications (DSCOC) team live streamed the first cat video ever broadcast from space to test future communications systems for space exploration

The DSOC array was fitted to NASA’s Psyche spacecraft (pictured) before it embarked on its journey to the 16 Psyche metal-rich asteroid 

The Deep Space Optical Communications (DSOC) system beamed the encoded video with a near-infrared laser to Caltech’s Palomar Observatory in San Diego County, California, where it was downloaded. 

Each frame from the looping video was then sent live to NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Southern California, where the video was played in real time.

This is not only the first ever cat video to be streamed from space, but also the greatest distance over which ultra-high-definition video has ever been streamed.

Despite the enormous distances involved, the video only took 101 seconds to reach Earth, using the test system’s maximum rate of 267 megabits per second.

According to Ryan Rogalin, the project’s receiver electronics lead at JPL, NASA was able to send the video faster than most broadband internet connections. 

‘In fact, after receiving the video at Palomar, it was sent to JPL over the internet, and that connection was slower than the signal coming from deep space,’ he explained.

This comes after the NASA DSOC experiment made ‘first light’ in November as it beamed its first transmission between Earth and the spacecraft. 

This first test was beamed at 10 million miles (16 million kilometres) from Earth – just over half the distance of Tater’s broadcast.

For perspective, that’s more than 40 times the distance to the moon. 

The goal of these tests is to see whether NASA could eventually replace its existing radio communications system with an entirely optic relay. 

Lasers could be beamed from broadcast stations on Earth to satellites in orbit and beyond and then returned to collection arrays back on Earth. 

The advantage is that laser communications systems like this broadcast data at the speed of light, which is between 10 and 100 times faster than the radio communications systems currently used.

Not only will this reduce delays, but it will also vastly increase the amount of data that can be transmitted.

On December 4, DSOC was able to downlink 1.3 terabits of data – that’s more than NASA’s Magellan mission to Venus downlinked in its entire four-year journey.

NASA’s eventual goal is to build a laser communications network throughout space to transfer more scientific and communications data with less energy

NASA Deputy Administrator Pam Melroy says: ‘This accomplishment underscores our commitment to advancing optical communications as a key element to meeting our future data transmission needs.’

During its mission, Psyche will complete a ‘Mars fly-by’, giving NASA’s engineers an opportunity to see if future Mars missions could use lasers to stay in touch with Earth. 

However, even at light speeds, future Martian settlers would have a delay of about four minutes as their transmission travelled to Earth. 

Ms Melroy added: ‘Increasing our bandwidth is essential to achieving our future exploration and science goals, and we look forward to the continued advancement of this technology and the transformation of how we communicate during future interplanetary missions.’

More tests of the broadcast system are planned, but sadly NASA says that this will be Tater’s last appearance.

The chef, 66, offered an update on his recent diagnosis while sharing the reason he hasn’t publicly shared the type of cancer he’s been diagnosed with.

While much of The Hairy Bikers’ Christmas Special focused on the pair’s love of food, Dave did also share insight into his recent cancer battle, including unseen clips of his hospital treatment.

Talking about the moment he found out he had cancer, Dave remembered receiving a phone call from his doctor while driving on the motorway in France.

‘I can’t remember the rest of the drive home, it was like everything collapsed around us,’ his wife Liliana added.

‘It’s like, ”Where do we go from here?” Dave continued. ‘When I first got the call, what went through my mind was disbelief, and a refusal to believe it in a way.

He added that the moment it ‘got real’ was when Dave went to chemo for the first time, before it ‘got really real’ when he lost all his hair.

‘The first lot of chemo was very, very destructive,’ Dave shared, recalling how he was told by an oncologist that he would be ‘taken to the edge’.

‘You don’t realise what an impact it can have, the debilitating effects kick in quite quickly.

‘My sense of taste and appetite went, I was poorly, you see your weight drop and you’ve got to eat, but it’s finding something you want to eat. I had sores in my mouth. I would fall over quite a lot.’

‘It was hard, and it is hard to see him physically struggling with the effects of the treatment,’ Liliana adds.

‘By the second lot of chemo, my hair came out. It really is quite radical, it’s not a gradual moulting, your hair, eyebrows, eyelashes, beard, everything just goes,’ Dave went on.

One also posted: ‘Just incredible. How the hell he has coped I’ve no idea. I would not have,’ with one user going onto say: ‘Great to see Dave Myers back on our screens.’

‘Grown up with The Hairy Bikers, so it is emotional seeing Dave Myers’ recent struggle and cancer battle, but I am enjoying them hanging out, being themselves and cooking together again!’ one fan added.

Dave previously praised his co-star Si King for helping him through his battle with cancer, for which he is still going through treatment. 

He confessed that he saw their festive special as a way of showing his gratitude, as he explained: ‘This time we shared that food with people I owe my life too. There’s the nurses, the consultants, the physiotherapists who taught me to walk again.’

His co-star and best pal touchingly added: ‘It was the return for Dave and for me to normal a little bit and that was very precious when things haven’t been for Dave particularly so by default haven’t been for me either…

‘It was lush to see Dave riding saying ”are you sure we’re not turning left here”.

Dave announced that he had been diagnosed with cancer in May 2022 and he is currently still undergoing treatment for the disease. 

Last month, he revealed he was ‘stable’ and back at work, adding he was ‘really enjoying life at the moment’, saying: ‘: ‘I’m doing all right. I’m still having treatment but everything seems stable…

‘I’ve been back with my best mate on the bike, filming and doing the books and back to work. So it’s all pretty good, actually. I’m really enjoying life at the moment.’

Speaking about their Christmas special, Dave said: ‘The importance of this Christmas special has been huge for me. I really wanted to, as did Si, show our gratitude. We’ve opened ourselves up enough without oversharing too much…

‘The programme is really honest and from the heart…

‘The whole thing worked from start to finish. It’s been amazing getting back on the bikes together, we set off down the road and Si was leading so I didn’t have to think about where I was going…

‘That feeling of again doing what we’ve done for 30 years was magical. Si’s got shoulders like a bison and following that silhouette into the landscape was joyous. It was like getting my wings back’.

Dave, who has been married to Liliana Orzac since 2011, spoke about the importance of support from nearest and dearest, saying: ‘Knowing Si has been there is fantastic…

‘A lot of the credit has to also go to my wife, she’s been there through it all with me from the start. It’s absolutely vital and I feel really sad for those people who have to go through it on their own.’

Dave recently detailed the tearful moment he was able to get back on his motorbike again for the first time since his cancer diagnosis

Speaking about food during treatment, Dave explained: ‘Food is vital when you’re recovering from cancer, one is appetite and one is getting the calories in….

‘Sometimes I have to give myself a good talking to because if you’re feeling rough, you don’t feel like eating but you have to do it. 

‘There are moments when you get back into food that you look forward to it again. It’s important to find things that you like as well during that journey. It’s the stuff of life. 

‘It doesn’t matter if you’re a prince or pauper, everyone has something that they like to eat. Pancit noodles now have legendary status for me.’

Dave and Si have been taking to their motorbikes once again in recent months, to film for a new Hairy Bikers series out next year.

The BBC Two travel series, Hairy Bikers Go West, will see the duo travel from Scotland to Devon across eight episodes. 

Dave said although show bosses tried to reduce the length of his work days, he still managed to keep at it sometimes for up to ten hours to record the episodes.

The Hairy Bikers rose to fame with their popular cooking programmes but have slowed down their busy schedule due to Dave’s health.

Dave, who has not revealed what type of cancer he has, said he had endured ’30 lots’ of chemotherapy over the past year. 

He recently detailed the tearful moment he was able to get back on his motorbike again for the first time since his cancer diagnosis.

He has previously told how at times he was too ill to walk and unable to ride his motorcycle due to his health struggles. 

Dave recalled the emotional moment as he gave a health update, saying he and Si were left in tears when he was able to ride again.

He told the Yorkshire Post: ‘It’s been hard but I’m not the only one and I’m getting through it and I’m back at work.

‘I’ve had to learn to walk again and ride my bike again, and to get on my bike again with Kingy in the sunshine brought tears to both our eyes.’

Si added: ‘He’s a proper scrapper and he’s on good form. It’s been an emotional rollercoaster for everybody who loves and cares about Dave.’ 

Last month, Dave revealed that he was ‘stable’ and back at work, adding he was ‘really enjoying life at the moment,’ while still having treatment for cancer.

Appearing with Si on BBC Breakfast, Dave said: ‘I’m doing all right. I’m still having treatment but everything seems stable.

‘I’ve been back with my best mate on the bike, filming and doing the books and back to work. So it’s all pretty good, actually. I’m really enjoying life at the moment.’

Dave also opened up about Si’s support during his cancer treatment, revealing that his best friend came round to cook for him.

He recalled: ‘There was one day when I was poorly and he came round to our house and made me mince and dumplings, but he does it properly. 

‘You know, when the bottom of the dumplings are just soft, the top of the dumplings are crusty, and I really… I remember that with mashed potato.’

He reminisced: ‘That was lovely. There was a freezer full and that was great.’

Reflecting on their long-lasting friendship that has survived over three decades, Si said: ‘It just comes naturally to us. We’re good mates, we’re part of each other’s families.

‘It’s just the way we are and we don’t really have to try very hard, because we like each other. 

‘We’re very different people but that’s what friendship is about because constantly you bring something new to the table when we see each other.’

It comes after Dave revealed his first day back at work ended in a ‘man hug and a bit of a kiss’ with Si.

During an appearance on the Heart Breakfast show, host Jamie Theakston asked: ‘How important has it been having your best mate by your side over the last 12 months?’

Dave replied: ‘Oh, it’s crucial, my best mate and my family, that’s what sees you through, I say it’s work in progress.’

Jamie quipped: ‘Well you look good…’

Co-host Zoe Hardman added: ‘I was about to say, how do you feel day-to-day because you’ve got a real sparkle in your eye today?

Dave responded: ‘Yeah I’m alright, we’ve been filming. We’ve got Christmas special, we filmed a series for next year, it was hard going but then to get back on the bikes, it was just epic. 

‘I remember we were just off the Isle of Bute, and we’re on the bikes the first time and I’m following down the road and the familiar shape that I’ve seen for the past 20 years.’

Simon said: ‘It was quite emotional wasn’t it?’

Dave added: ‘Yeah, we got on the ferry and we had a man-hug and a bit of a tear.’

My Life With the Walter Boys has been renewed for a second season after becoming a last-minute 2023 hit for streaming service Netflix.

The young adult drama follows 15-year-old Jackie Howard (played by Nikki Rodriguez), who moves from New York to rural Colorado after the tragic loss of her family.

There she meets the Walter family, including sporty Cole (Noah LaLonde) and bookish Alex (Ashby Gentry).

Based on the book by Ali Novak, the first season wraps up the events of the novel, but the Netflix adaptation is set to expand the story further.

Showrunner Melanie Halsall said: “I mean, the story is set in Silver Falls. Beyond that, I genuinely don’t know.”

And lead actress Rodriguez admitted she “can’t even imagine where season two would start.”

She told Deadline: “Jackie’s going through a lot and she has really big dreams and goals, and so I really hope for Jackie that she doesn’t get too off track and doesn’t get too distracted and just remember what she really wants.

“Ultimately, no one’s gonna look out for you the way that you would. So I think… her choosing herself is really important for people to see, and I kind of applaud Jackie for it to be honest.”

Whatever lies ahead for the Walter family, Netflix can bet on scoring another hit with the second season, as the first outing racked up 12 million views within its first week of release.

“Netflix is finally doing something right for once…” one viewer quipped.

“This show was so good,” another said. “Happy to know we’re getting season 2 after that ending.”

In her statement to Deadline, Halsall said: “It’s been incredible. Phenomenal, actually.

“I think the audience response has just been so overwhelming and enthusiastic and positive. We couldn’t have hoped for better audience reaction really.”

Randall’s spacious house, on the iconic Mulholland Drive, has been listed once again for $4.995 million — yes, nearly $5 mil can be a deal in L.A.’s crazy market.

The 4,276-square-foot property comes with a long swimming pool, a pickleball court and huge windows offering a great view of the surrounding area.

TMZ broke the story, Randall first listed the spot in May of last year, asking $6.295M for the pad … since then, it’s gone through numerous price changes — dropping to $5.7M, then a flat $5 mil and now even lower!.

He’s also temporarily pulled the plug on selling the property, and ended up listing it for rent for a while. It’s unclear if anyone ever took him up on the rental offer, but now the sale goes on.

You’ll recall, the OG listing came after Randall and Lala called off their 3-year engagement, which resulted in her moving out. A source told us Randall was looking for a bigger home for his family after the split.
