Alexander O’Neal discusses Prince feud rumours after ‘learning nothing’ from him

Soul singer Alexander O'Neal has discussed his rumoured feud with late music icon Prince.

The legendary Criticize singer revealed that he "never lost" any respect for him despite rumours that he had over the years.

Talking exclusively to the Daily Star, Alexander said: "No, I never lost any respect for Prince.

"Prince was the godfather of the Minneapolis music scene, with him, it was good bad and different at times."

Talking about when they worked together on unreleased music, he added: "Some things aren't meant for you, the collaboration between us, we recorded a couple of songs out there and it just didn't work out. It wasn't meant to happen."

He continued: "But I always knew I would make it to the next level of my career I just didn't know when or how.

"But Prince, lord rest his soul. I have the utmost respect for him."

Talking about lessons he's learnt throughout his career, Alexander explained: "But to be honest, all of the main things I learnt were from women.

"I've learned a lot from females about how to conduct myself in this industry, it just happened to be that way.

"I learned nothing from damn men but I learnt everything from women, they showed me how to be a real star.

"If you are a kind person throughout your life and you are attentive to your fans and communicate with people on a one-on-one basis, then you will do well. Sometimes I can't hold up to that, but most of the time I do and my fans appreciate it so much and it keeps me grounded."

The star also revealed how he would love to make some music with Boy George that would "shock the world".

The Saturday Love singer revealed how he is still in the studio making new music at 68-years-old.

Talking about his dream collaborations, Alexander said: "To be honest with you, I would love to work with someone who can shock the world and I would love to do a track with Boy George.

"We know each other and have seen each other many times. And all the time, I feel we have a lot of respect for each other I feel like Boy George and Alexander O'Neal would be a shocker. Hopefully, it will happen, I will have to reach out to him."
