While belting out a rendition of ‘The Star-Spangled Banner’, the ‘Top of the World’ songstress rocks a red-white-and-black Prada tracksuit as she channels the ‘Greatest Love of All’ hitmaker’s iconic 1991 Super Bowl style.
AceShowbiz –Brandy has paid homage to Whitney Houston. The “Top of the World” songstress channeled the “Greatest Love of All” hitmaker’s style while performing the national anthem at NFC Championship.
The 42-year-old Grammy-winning singer delivered a flawless rendition of “The Star-Spangled Banner” before the Sunday, January 30 game between the Los Angeles Rams and the San Francisco 49ers at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California. She donned a red-white-and-black Prada tracksuit while performing the song.
People were quick to applaud Brandy, including Kelly Rowland, Snoop Dogg and Tamar Braxton. Kelly reposted Brandy’s performance via Twitter along with a caption that read, “AMEN BRANDY!!!”
Snoop, in the meantime, applauded Brandy’s stunning vocals on Instagram with a series of sparkles, bumping fists, tulip and musical notes emojis. As for Tamar, she tweeted, “I see my sis @4everBrandy felt like singing today chile!! She sang Me into my feelings Tonight.”
“One thing about Brandy, she’s gonna always find a way to pay homage to Whitney Houston #NFCChampionship,” one Twitter user wrote. “Brandy and her ode to Whitney Houston with this jumpsuit is literally giving me the chills,” another tweet read. A third chimed in, “If my girl Brandy don’t do anything else, she’s going to pay tribute to her idol one way or another.”
Throughout the years, Brandy has been vocal about her admiration towards Whitney, who tragically died in 2012 at the age of 48. The “Boy Is Mine” singer previously collaborated with her idol on the 1997 movie musical “Cinderella”, in which Brandy was cast in the title role, while Whitney co-produced and played the part of the Fairy Godmother.
“My childhood dreams were to be a singer, touch as many people as I could and to meet Whitney Houston, just meet her,” Brandy told PEOPLE in August 2020. “So to meet her, hang out with her and sing with her,” she added, “It was unbelievable. For her to cast me in such a role, the first black princess, I don’t know the words to really describe what that feels like.”
